Walter Noah Durant

Walter Noah Durant, 79, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Fort Smith, AR. Walter was born October 22, 1930 in Gilmore, OK to Walter N. & Cleo V. (Collins) Durant. He was a welder. Walter was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea with the Thunderbirds, 180th infantry, Company I, 45th Division. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Carl, Johnny & Robbs Durant. Survivors include his wife, Verna L. Durant of the home; 3 daughters, Donna Durant Macon of Tulsa, OK, Sandra Durant Kemp of Tulsa, OK, Cheryl Durant Hayes of Houston, TX; 6 sons, Walter Dewayne Durant of Tulsa, OK, Jerry Don Troutman of Scottsdale, AZ, Rev. G. Clayton Troutman of Tahlequah, OK, Joseph L. Troutman of Tulsa, OK, Tony R. Troutman of Catoosa, OK, Frank L. Troutman of Oklahoma City, OK; 24 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; 4 sisters, Jean Bass of Poteau, OK, Mildred Huddleston of Oklahoma City, OK, Pearl Bost of Poteau, OK, Carolyn Baca of Poteau, OK; 2 brothers, Paul Nichols of Poteau, OK and Charles Durant of Poteau, OK; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends. Services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Double Branch Baptist Church in Poteau, OK with Rev. Leroy Billy & Rev. Jim Cook & Rev. G. Clayton Troutman officiating. Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK
