Billy Joe Kinsey




Billy Joe Kinsey, 83, of Heavener, OK passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 in Heavener, OK.  Billy Joe was born June 20, 1931 in Poteau, OK to Abe & Willie (Davis) Kinsey.  He was retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service.  He boxed while he was in the service.  Billy Joe taught at the elementary & middle school level in many subjects retiring at Heavener Public Schools where he taught and coached.  He was beloved by generations of children and young adults that he taught & coached.  He enjoyed game hunting, especially duck hunting.  He loved playing, coaching, and watching sports particularly OU football & basketball, and the Dallas Cowboys.  Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Erika Kinsey; brothers, Allen & Jimmy Kinsey; son in law, Irvin Benson; grandson, Johnathon Pugh.

Kinsey, Larry D. Kinsey, Charles Kinsey & wife Karen, Loyd R. Joe Walker

Survivors include his wife Misty of the home; children, Chey Walker & Monica Walker of Durant, OK, Hayden Bell of Bokoshe, OK, Alysha Walker of Durant, OK, Trenton Massey of Heavener, OK, Teagan Walker, Kyleigh Walker of the home, Cameron Massey of the home; 2 grandchildren on the way; brothers, Kavin Ballard, Bob Johnston & wife Tawnya all of Caddo, OK; sister Ronda Watkins & husband Randy of Caddo, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, loved ones & friends.

Services will be 11 am, Friday, November 28, 2014 at New Life Full Gospel Church, Panama, OK with Rev. Joe Pierce and Rev. Doyle Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in Old Bokoshe Cemetery, Bokoshe, OK.  Pallbearers will be Kavin Ballard, Bob Johnston, Randy Watkins, Dustin Griggs, Buddy Cantrell, James McCoy, Dennis Covey.  Honorary pallbearers will be his children. 

Helen Taylor



Helen Ione Branson Taylor, age 90, died peacefully in the home that she shared with her son and daughter-in-law on November 27, 2014, in Shady Point, Oklahoma.   Mrs. Taylor was born Helen Ione Branson on February 22, 1924 in Shady Point, to Wilburn and Eunice Branson, the second of three children.  She graduated high school from Panama in 1942 and married in the same year. Their marriage endured until his death in 1992.  She and her husband lived in Shady Point, moved to Tahona, where they continued to raise their cattle and their children, and ran a business in Panama for several years before moving back to Shady Point. While an active member in the Baptist Church, Helen sewed, crocheted, played the piano in church, and gave piano lessons.  Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be remembered as an honorable woman of integrity to all of her friends and family, as well as a dedicated Christian.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan and Robert Farmer of Tulsa, her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Abigail Taylor of Shady Point, her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Pat Branson of Poteau, also six grandchildren, twenty-three  great-grandchildren, and two  great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard K. Taylor and her sister Faye Davis of San Bernadino, California.   
         Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 on December 1 , 2014  at Evans Miller Funeral Home in Poteau with Rev. Jim Roberts officiating.   All are welcome to attend.  She will be laid to rest in the Shady Point Cemetery next to her husband. A reception will follow at the Shady Point Baptist Church.  Pallbearers will be David McFarland, Lundy Taylor, Vernon Scarberry, Mike Doyle, Daniel Taylor, Tex Williamson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Devon, Taylor and Alex McFarland, Isaac Belak, Bryan Forman and Bobby Marchant.    Flowers and condolences can be sent to the family in care of Evans Miller Funeral Home.

Blake Lomon



Blake Wayne Lomon, 25, of Pocola, OK passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 in Spiro, OK.  Blake was born October 27, 1989 in Fort Smith, AR to John Wayne II & Angela Flame (Calhoun) Lomon.  He was a serviceman for Kiamichi Electric.  Blake loved to hunt, fish, go 4-wheelin’.  He was a country boy and  a wonderful father  He was kindhearted and loved by everybody.  He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, John Tedford, Marcella DeWitt, Charlie & Dorothy Midgley & Lester Yates.



Survivors include his son, Dax Wayne Lomon; his parents, Bud & Angie Lomon; sister, Brittany Lomon all of Pocola, OK; grandparents, Jim & Patsy Calhoun, Jesse & Sandy Nelke all of Pocola, OK;  John & Carol Lomon of Hackett, AR; great grandparents, Marie Yates of Pocola, OK, Geneva Hargrove of Hackett, AR; aunts & uncles, Karen Cox of Alma, AR, Glenda & Kenneth Wallace of Ft. Sheri Ferguson



Sheri Lee Ferguson, 53, of Cameron, OK passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 after a battle with cancer.  Born in Bakersfield, CA  on September 8, 1961 to Bennie Ray & Judith Lee (Estep) Sullivan.  Sheri moved to Cameron, OK 25 years ago where she raised her family with her loving husband.  Sheri was a customer service manager at Southern Star when she fell ill.  A heartfelt thank you to the management and staff at Southern Star for their love and support.  Sheri was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ferguson; daughter, Samantha Brown; son in law, Jon Brown; granddaughter, Anna Brown; son, Alex Ferguson; mother, Judy Bird; 8 sisters & brothers; &  many friends & family.  Sheri touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Services will be 11 am, November 26, 2014 at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK with Bro. Kevin Fitzgerald officiating.  Burial will follow.  Pallbearers will be  Shawn D. Sullivan, Shawn N. “Shawnie Ringo” Sullivan, Chris “Duck” Osborne, Ed Everett, Jason Hartnett and Jon Brown.

Glenda Swearengin



Glenda Christene Swearengin, 60, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Glenda was born July 30, 1954 in Sapulpa, OK to Lawrence Edward & Ethel Christene (Hays) Daniels.  She worked as Human Resource Manager at Tyson Foods for 29 years.  She was church pianist at the Gospel Tabernacle for 53 years.  Glenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theodore & Ermal Hays.

She is survived by her husband, Pat of the home; son, Randal Dunn & wife Britney of Poteau, OK; 3 grandchildren, Gracie, Emily & Zoey Dunn; parents, Sonny & Christene Daniels; sister, Carolyn Billy & husband, Calvin; brother, Carl Daniels & wife Sheryl.  She also leaves behind several special nieces & nephews; uncles, aunts and cousins; her Gospel Tabernacle Church family; a host of family, friends & co-workers.

Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Gospel Tabernacle, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jackie Hayes and Bobby Main officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK.  Pallbearers will be Bob, Charles, and Rookie Hayes, Aaron Daniels, Jason McMurray, David Vineyard, J.R. Collins, Jose’ Garcia.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Gibson, Logan Hayes and David Dennis.

John Carter



John Carter, 47 of Pocola, OK passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 after a battle with cancer.  John was a graduate of Pocola High School Class of 1985.  He had been a security sergeant at Sparks Hospital and also worked 25 years at Whirlpool as well as the Mansfield Juvenile Treatment Center.  John was a beloved son, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Kayte; mother, Linda; father, John Sr.; sister, Lisa; 3 sons, Jordan, Tony & Shane; one grandson, Evan; many friends & family.  John touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ft. Smith, AR with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow.  Pallbearers will be Jordan Carter, Tony Carter, Shane Holliday, Jimmy Collie, Britt Reaves and Todd France.  Honorary pallbearers will be George Reaves, Robert Smith, Troy Smith, and Tim McGowan.

    Patty Louise ( Burt ) Howe, age 76, of Carthage MO passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014.  Patty was  born in Elkhart, Indiana on September 17,1938 to Andrew George & Opal Ruth (Mills) Burt.  She worked for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles for the State of California.  She is preceded in death by her husband Delbert Howe and her son Del Allyn Howe; her parents, and Nephew Robert Sinclair Jr.
     She is survived by daughter, Lynn Hodges; her four grandchildren; Chad Howe and wife Tammy, Amber Headrick and husband Jarrod; Dustin Howe; Darcy Torix and husband Glen; four great grandchildren; Angela, Jake, Preston, and Dakota.   She has an older Sister; Anna Jo Sinclair and husband Robert, also a Brother Stephen Burt and wife Marilyn; Patty's nephews; Rod Sinclair and wife Susan, Thomas Burt, and niece Alicia Crosson and husband Brian.
     Graveside services – 2 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Howe Cemetery, Howe, OK with Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will follow.


DOYLE WALDEN



Doyle Walden, 72, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in Ft. Smith. AR.  Doyle was born March 12, 1942 in LeFlore, OK to William Andrew & Lurahree Eugenia (Allison) Walden.  He was a conductor/brakeman for the railroad.  Doyle was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his  parents; brother Jack Walden and stepson, Donald Sockey.


Survivors include his wife Patricia of the home;  children, Terri McLaughlin of Alliance, NE, Jennifer Harden of Ft. Smith, AR, Tim Walden of Clarksville, IA, Stacy Blaylock of Panama, OK; stepsons, Michael Sockey of Poteau, OK, Edward Sockey of Shady Point, OK; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 brothers & sisters; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

ANNA BOST



Anna Louise Bost, 69, of Wister, OK went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 18, 2014.  She was born February 19, 1945 in Seminole, OK to Vernon & Leavada (Richards) Elliott.  She was a wonderful mother & grandmother.  Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and her 3 little granddogs, whom she called “her babies”.  Anna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Bost; brothers, Jimmy D. Elliott and Bobby R. Elliott.

She is survived by 2 children, JoAnna Means & husband Johnny of Wister, OK; Danny Bailey of Ft. Smith, AR;  3 grandchildren, Justin and Treasure Means of Stillwater, OK, Kelsie Means of Wister, OK; Jake Bailey of Panama, OK; and a very special daughter, Tommie Holson Adams, whom she loved as her own;  sisters, Linda Thompson, Lois Blankenship and husband Bill, all of Marion, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Ed Williams



Edgar Williams, 89, of Pocola, OK passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at his home in Pocola.  Ed was born August 6, 1925 in Pocola, OK to Harry Richard & Lillie Mae (Kilgore) Williams.  He worked for Holsum Bread Co. for 22+ years  but retired from the mustang School System in 1990.  Ed was a veteran of the US Navy serving in communications on Saipan Island in WWII.   His love for his family and his faith is a legacy that his children and grandchildren cherish and value.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years Dorthy Ann (Beshears) Williams; son in law, Don DeSelms; grandson in law, Stephen Medley; brothers in law, Pete Howard, Donnie Beshears and sister in law, Mary Lee Williams.

Survivors include daughters & son in law, Sherry & Randy Gunter of Ft. Smith, AR, Sally DeSelms of Pocola, OK; sons & daughters in law, Richard & Rennie Williams of Panama, OK, Randy & Karen Williams, David Williams and Daniel Williams all of Pocola.  He leaves 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Howard & Stella Hughes; brothers & sister in law, Ted & Betty Williams of Pocola, OK Earl Williams of Turlock, CA; sister in law Connie Cloud of Spiro, OK; other relatives and loved ones; many friends.

Tom Shoup



Thomas Ralph “Tom” Shoup, 73, of Cameron, OK passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Tom was born December 27, 1940 in Cameron, OK to Ralph & Nina May (Murray) Shoup.  He was a retired purchasing manager at Sparks Hospital.  Tom was a member of the Mosholatubbee Lodge #13 for over 53 years.  He was General Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He received a Bachelor of Science at OSU in 1963.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents.



Survivors include his  daughter, Sharon Wright & husband Jeff of Russellville, AR; son,  Scott Shoup of Cameron, OK; one grandson, Jared Thomas Yager of Russellville, AR; brothers & sisters in law, John & Joyce Shoup, Charles & Donna Shoup, Dewey & Marjorie Shoup all of Cameron, OK;  other relatives, loved ones and friends.



There will be a visitation from 6-8 pm, Friday, November 14, 2014 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, OK.  There will be no service.

James (Jim) Wiley "Buddy" Brown



James (Jim) Wiley “Buddy” Brown passed away November 13, 2014 at home after fighting an 18 month battle with cancer.  He was born May 22, 1939 in Ft. Smith, AR to Wiley and Irene (Blevins) Brown.  He was an Air Force veteran and retired from the construction industry after more than 30 years of employment.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Thomas, George, Truman, Lem, John, Ervin, and Noah; three sisters, Flossie Brown Omo, Laura Brown Holoman, and Phoebe (Phyllis) Brown Hendricks; plus one very special brother, Jake West.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jean of the home; daughter, Debra Lutz of Jacksonville, FL; three sons, Phillip of Kansas City, MO, Wiley “Buddy” and Patrick both of Tulsa, OK; several grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 7 step-children; a number of step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews to numerous to mention.

Services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, November 17, 2014 graveside at Macedonia Cemetery, Pocola, OK with Dennis Traxler officiating.  Interment will follow.  Pallbearers will be members of the DAV.  Honorary pallbearer will be Amanda Dickey Moreau. 


The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Macedonia Cemetery or Seabolt Cemetery.

Howard Ray Goins, 76, of Panama, OK passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Poteau, OK.  Howard was born May 9, 1938 in Panama, OK to Otto & Ola Mae (Sherfield) Goins. He was a heavy equipment operator.  Howard was a hardworker; a proud Navy veteran; and a friend to everyone.  He never met a stranger.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Goins; granddaughter, RaeLena Shelton; special son in law, Randy Shelton; siblings, Levenia Newel, Orville Goins, Linda Goins, Ethelene Covey & Pauline Cox.

 Joyce F. Foliart, 68, of Bokoshe, OK passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 in Fort Smith, AR.  Joyce was born March 29, 1946 in Bend, OR to William & Jessie (Henson) Kirkendoll.  She was a homemaker.  Joyce attended the Bennington Church. 



She is survived by her husband Robert of the home; daughters, Sherri Benafield and Stacy Foliart of Fresno, CA; sons, Shannon Foliart of Clovis, CA, Bobby Foliart of Demmit, TX, & Randy Foliart of Ft. William Frank "Snappy" Enkoff



William Frank “Snappy” Enkoff, 96, of Talihina, OK passed away Saturday, November 08, 2014 in Talihina.  Snappy was born March 24, 1918 in Poteau, OK to William Frank Sr. & Lucy (Harris) Enkoff.   He was a carpenter.  Snappy was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry and Great Grandson, Jason.

Delta Faye Bullard, 69, of Wister, OK passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in Little Rock, AR.  Faye was born January 2, 1945 in Prague, OK to Don & Opal (Hoover) Kelly.  Faye was a loving wife, mom, granny, great granny, sister, aunt and friend.  She was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was very active and she loved serving her Savior.  Faye loved her family & church family, cooking, quilting, fill-in puzzles, singing & spending time with her soulmate & living life.  She had an infectious laughter & didn’t meet a stranger.  She always tried her best to make each person she met feel loved by her & her God.  Faye was preceded in death by her parents; parents in law, Ted & Lorene Bullard; daughter in law, Lori Bullard; brothers in law, Scotty Bullard, Johnny McGowen; sister in law, Sam Bullard; great grandson, Parker Leon Dolph.

Faye is survived by her husband, Bill Bullard of the home; 3 sons & daughters in law, Alan & Sandra Bullard of Virginia Beach, VA, Danny & Kachelle Bullard of Red Oak, OK, Buddy & Carolyn Bullard of Wister, OK; daughter & son in law, Jackie & Nina Farrar of Cameron, OK; grandchildren, Christina Bruno, Mark & Gwen Bullard, Matthew & Ariel Bullard, Elysia & Eric Dolph, Chris & Courtney Bullard, Hunter Prock, Kimberlyn & Jerret Carpenter, Jacob & Randa Watts, Cody Bullard, Corey Bullard, Jon Watts, Jamie & Katrina Farrar, Josh & Dinah Farrar & Haley Jo Farrar; great grandchildren, Chasen Bullard, Hoyt Dolph, Zakree Watts, Beck, Eli & Faith Farrar; sisters & brothers in law, Don & Donna Herrington of Seattle, WA, Creig & Pam Jones, Randy & Mary Abbott all of Moore, OK; brothers & sisters in law, Jimmy & Nancy Kelly of Blanchard, OK, Gary & Beverly Kelly of Ft. Smith, AR; brothers in law, Ted Bullard & Dale Bullard of Pocola, OK; sister in law, Jody McGowen of Moore, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other family & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Monday, November10, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, OK with Rev. Clyde Steelman officiating.  Interment will follow in Hicks Chapel Cemetery, Fanshawe, OK. 
Pallbearers will be Mark Bullard, Matthew Bullard, Chris Bullard, Eric Dolph, Hunter Prock, Jerret Carpenter, Jacob Watts, Jon Watts, Cody Bullard, Corey Bullard, Jamie Farrar, Josh Farrar.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chasen Bullard, Hoyt Dolph, Zakree Watts, Beck Farrar & Eli Farrar.

The family will be at the funeral home from 2-4 pm Sunday to visit with relatives & friends.
