Gwen Maggi



Gwendolyn “Gwen” Maggi, 89, of Wilburton, OK passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Denison, TX.  Gwen was born May 30, 1924 in Victor, OK to Rev. B.W. Wilson & Naomi Gunner (Magness) Morgan.  She was a homemaker & a great cook.  She and Deno Maggi were married July 13, 1946.  Gwen was a member of the 20th Century Club, Past President of Wilburton Board of Education.  She taught Sunday School for many years; was church organist & pianist for many years.   Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Deno Maggi; daughter, Janice DiAntonio Busko; and brother, Bob Morgan.



Survivors include her sons Dr. & Mrs. Darius R. Maggi of Southlake, TX, David M. Maggi of Wilburton, OK, Capt. James P. Busko; granddaughters, Gina & Colby Crenshaw of Beaumont, TX, Kim & Kevin Dodson of Dallas, TX; Isabella & Courtney Maggi of Paris, TX; grandson, Deno & Kristin Maggi of Southlake, TX; great grandchildren, Gwen, John, Charleston, Milly, Decker, & Taylor; sister, Jahala Williams of Talihina, OK; brother, Weldon & Kathy Morgan of Whitesboro, TX; niece, Frances Williams of Talihina, OK, Connie Belt; nephew, Bobby & Gary Morgan, John & Donna Morgan of Whitesboro, TX; other relatives, loved ones & many friends.



Services will be 1 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wilburton.  Interment will follow in Wilburton Memorial Gardens.

Eldon Maxwell



Eldon Eugene Maxwell, 65, of Bokoshe, OK passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in  Fort Smith, AR.  Eldon was born February 25, 1949 in San Mateo, CA to L.D. & Carol (Leyva) Maxwell.  He was a truck driver.  Eldon was preceded in death by is father, L.D. & wife, Nan; sister, Sue Christian; 3 grandchildren.


Survivors include his daughters, Pam & Cecil Sanders of Buffalo, TX, Jammey & Tim Ducat of Houston, TX, Samantha & Stacy Stinson of Madisonville, TX, Avis Dobs of Sparta, TN; Betty & Josh Griego of Teague, TX; sons, Larry Maxwell of Teague, TX, Floyd & Kellie Lay of Buffalo, TX; mother, Carol Maxwell of Bokoshe, OK; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; closer than a brother friend, Jerry Morgan of Iowa; nieces, nephews, loved ones & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God of Poteau, OK with Rev. Stanley Odom & Rev. Lynn Bullard officiating.  Interment will follow in Old Bokoshe Cemetery, Bokoshe, OK.  Pallbearers will be Floyd Wayne, Stanley Real, Jerry Lovell, Tod Cauthron, Bruce Blaylock, Robert Harper.   Honorary pallbearer will be Will Stacy.  

The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Chuck Armstrong



Willis “Chuck” Armstrong, 82, of Muskogee, OK (formerly of Spiro)  passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Tulsa, OK.  Chuck was born December 19, 1931 in Poteau, OK to Sylvester & Evie (Phillips) Armstrong.  He drove a dairy truck.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Shady Point, OK. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ira & Harlen Armstrong. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; 5 daughters & sons in law, Carolyn Young of Van Buren, AR, Pam & Ron Clark of Claremore, OK, Sue & Jerry Garner of Oktaha, OK, Sharon Thomas of Muskogee, OK, Deborah & John Coleman of Broken Arrow, OK; 14 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Thompson of Poteau, OK; brother, Buford Armstrong of Pocola, OK; nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 31, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Shady Point, OK with Rev. Joe Owen officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Heath, Ryan & Randy Clark, Brian “Cotton” Scamardo, Charles Scoggins & John Coleman.  Honorary pallbearer will be Reggie Clark.

The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3-5 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Nina B. Smith



Nina B. Smith, 86, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Poteau.  Nina was born January 2, 1928 in Pine Valley, OK to Linn & Bertha (Davis) Adkins.  She was a waitress.  Nina was a resident of Poteau for over 50 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Smith; daughter, Judy Kay Brooks; sisters, Helen Gower & Addie Green.

She is survived by her son, John L. Terry of Mojave, CA; sister, Betty Kirk of Rosamond, CA; brother, Lendon Adkins of Torryton, TN; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Burial will follow in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK.


Glenn Dollar



Glenn H. Dollar, 81, of Cameron, OK passed away Sunday March 23, 2014 in Cameron.  Glenn was born July 24 1932 in Konawa, OK to Ambrose & Margaret (Howard) Dollar.   He was an electrician.  Glenn was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Dollar; sisters, Velma Beaver & Margie New.
Glenn loved his children, enjoyed riding horses and being outdoors.  He also enjoyed building things.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of the home; daughters, Robin  Veenhuis of Fayetteville, AR, Kristen Dollar of Conway, AR, Patricia Dollar of Cameron, OK; son, Anthony Dollar of Seattle, WA; Stepson, John Bohlin & wife Robin of Poteau, OK; stepdaughter, Deborah Breashears of Diamond Springs, CA; granddaughters, Jinell & Kirstie Breshears of Clovis, CA, Rene Bohlin of Poteau, OK, Gabrielle Veenhuis  of Fayetteville, AR; great granddaughters, Issabella & Auria; great grandsons, Mason & Alexander all of Clovis, CA; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 10 am, Friday, March 28, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Poteau, OK with Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will be 3pm in Stewart Cemetery near Caney, OK. 

The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Martha “Marcelle” Kirkley, 93, of Poteau, OK passed away March 26, 2014 in Poteau.  Martha was born May 16, 1920 in Tupelo, MS to Jess & Vinnie Lee (Harrison) Cooper.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Woodrow Kirkley; son, Larry Garland Kirkley; daughters, Alice Ruth Kirkley, Patricia Darlene Hill; granddaughter, Leslie Ann Little; brothers, Roy, Preston & James Cooper; sisters, Clynelle Ridenhour.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan Kirkley-Allen of Austin, TX, Linda Kay Moore & husband Steve of Harrison, AR; son, Bob Kirkley & wife Melva of Gravette, AR; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Lavelle Stanley; other relatives, loved ones, many friends.

Services will be 10 am, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Poteau Church of Christ with Don Cherry officiating.  Interment will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, Heavener, OK.

The family will be at the church at 9 am prior to the service to visit with friends and relatives.

Dovie Trotter, 97, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Poteau.  Dovie was born January 29, 1917 in Page, OK to John & Martha (Satterfield) Staton.  She was a homemaker.  Dovie was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Manuel King (killed in action in WWII) & Alfred Cameron Trotter; son, Alfred; brothers, Rufus & Bill Staton; sisters, Emma Simpson, Frances Higgins, Ruby Caldwell, Eveline  King, Arizona Staton.

Survivors include her daughters & sons in law, Isabell & Ed Creech, Iola & Ron Winters, Carol & Don Dickson, Helen & John Merritt; sons & daughters in law, Bob  & Jeanette Trotter, Bill & Pat Trotter; a number of Grand & Great & Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

Services - 2 pm, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Amber Kirkendoll officiating. Burial will be in Stapp Zoe Cemetery. Her Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Reba Lois (Tyler) Harrison, 92, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Poteau.  Reba was born September 4, 1921 in Spiro Oklahoma to Bert & Vera (Perry) Tyler.  She was a school cook.  Reba belonged to the United Pentecostal Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Harrison; son,  Gordon Harrison; brothers, Charles & Carl Tyler; sisters, Betty Gowan, Wanda Clayton, Janice Degraff & Helen Farmer.



Survivors include her daughter, Janet Oliver of Poteau, OK; sons, Dewey Harrison of Poteau, Roger Harrison of Shady Point, Dennis Harrison of Cameron, OK, Preston Harrison of Poteau; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Dell Gray  and Rowena Schelb of Sand Springs, OK, Sue Whitely of Fayetteville, AR; other relatives, loved ones & many friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Apostolics of Poteau with Rev. Kevin Womack & Jeff Jenson officiating.  Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK.

Lovaun Shelton Goin, 78, of Poteau, OK passed away, Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Lovaun was born June 20, 1935 in Hackett, AR to Howard & Ruby (Stankowitz) Shelton.  She was a housewife.



Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bob; daughter & son in law, Ramona & Robert Essmon of Mt. Howard Wilson Walls, 90, of LeFlore, OK passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Poteau.  Howard was born December 27, 1923 in Paoli, IN to Elijah & Maymie (Lambert) Walls.  He was a heavy equipment operator.  Howard was a member of the First Baptist Church in LeFlore.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lydia; and son Howard Walls Jr.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Putman of LeFlore, OK, Judy Moore of Phoenix, AZ, Susie Moore of Mesa, AZ, Beth Moran of Roland, OK, Jeanie Savala of Mesa, AZ; 31 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; a number of nieces & nephews; other relatives, loved ones & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at LeFlore Baptist Church, LeFlore, OK with Rev. Ron Bess.  Interment  will follow in LeFlore Cemetery.

Howard Leon LeMaster Sr., 73, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Poteau.  Leon was born December 3, 1940 in Coweta, OK to Howard & Juanita Ethel (Mahaffey) LeMaster.  He was a former businessman, police officer & farmer.  Leon was a member of the Assembly of God Church & the Masonic Lodge.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice and granddaughter, Kayla.

 Donald Ray Jamison, 59, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Poteau, OK.  Donald was born August 15, 1954 in Richmond, CA to  Claud Donald & Dortha Mae (Goff) Jamison.  He was a mechanic.  Donald was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his father & brother, Lee Jamison.



Survivors include his wife, Terrie Jamison of Shady Point, OK; 7 children, Michelle Peerson of Tulsa, OK, Karie Bray of Stigler, OK, Ricky Jamison of Fayetteville, AR, Shayna Moss, Tiffany Jamison & Ashley Moss of Poteau, OK, Jared Martin of Panama, OK; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; mother, Dortha Middleton of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones & many friends.

Brian Smith officiating.  Interment followed in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Pallbearers were Jacob Peerson, Tim Vaughn, Kenny Moss, Lee Jamison, Bethel Bates, Jackie Jones.  Honorary pallbearer was  Jared Martin.

Gloria Sue Mosley, 75 of Monroe, OK passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Monroe.  Gloria was born August 10, 1938 in Muskogee, OK to Howard James & Martha L. (Jordan) Blankenship.  She was a homemaker.  Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Marty Martin.

Rev. Clifford Myers



Rev. Clifford C. Myers, 83, of Pocola, OK passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Pocola.  Clifford was born May 27, 1930 in Williams, OK to Andrew Jackson & Nora Isabel (Byrd) Myers.  He was the founding pastor of Pocola Heights  Free Will Baptist Church in 1971 where he served as pastor until his death, having been a minister for 57 years,  a retired truck driver, and a baseball coach.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers & 4 sisters.

Survivors include his wife Mildred of the home; daughter & son in law, Sherry &  John Woods of Pocola, OK; son & daughter in law, Gary & Nancy Myers of Alma, AR; 5 grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Chris Robertson & wife, Allie, Spec. Todd Myers, Jennifer Woods-Roger & husband, Tommy, Josh Myers, Misty Robertson; 4 great grandchildren, Alexi Robertson, Jonathan Woods, Alivia Myers, Jaxon Robertson; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends and church family.

   Dorothy Helen Bollinger, 79, of Cameron, OK passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Dorothy was born August 17, 1934 in Bengal, OK to James D. & Willie Mae (Doris) Martin.  She was a hotel/motel housekeeper.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Bollinger and daughter, Dorothy Mae Pearcy.

Nerrissia  Skinner, 85, of Shady Point, OK passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Nerrissia was born April 16, 1928 in Monroe, OK to Leon & Jesker (Hayes) Thompson.  She was a bank teller at Central National Bank.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.V. Skinner Sr.; brothers, Kenneth, Bob & Raiford Thompson.

Survivors include her sons, A.V. Skinner Jr. & wife Emma of Poteau, OK; Bradley Skinner of Ft. Sharon Shaw Cooper



Sharon Shaw Cooper, 70, of Shady Point, OK passed away Friday, March 07, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Sharon was born September 24, 1943 in Poteau, OK to the late Roscoe & Alburvia Shaw.  She graduated from Poteau High School, attended Carl Albert State College and a computer Tech School in Spiro.  Working many years at the Safeway Store in McAlester & Ft. Smith.  Sharon was a member of the Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roscoe Jr., Sisters, Mary Katherine McClain, Jane Weiler; and brother, Lewis Shaw.



Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob “BT” Cooper of the home; sons, Bobby T. Cooper & wife Vanessa of  Clearfield, KY, Todd Cooper & wife Ginger of Shady Point, OK, Dustin & wife Mollie Cooper of Ozark, AR; daughter, Shari Cooper of Thousand Oaks, CA;  8 grandchildren, Brittani Cooper, Brandi Cooper Barton  & husband, Chris  of Stigler, Jensen Cooper, Jake Cooper, Bindi Cooper, Troy Cooper, Wyatt Cooper, Robert Cooper and One great granddaughter, Sophie Barton; 3 sisters, Ann Evans, Judy Jackson & husband, Bill, Beth Wilson  & husband, Bill; 2 brothers, George Shaw  & wife, Coline, David Shaw & wife, Mary; 2 sisters in law, Jean & Rose Shaw, Shirley Cooper & Susie McConnell.   Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Brenda Griffith



Brenda E. Griffith, 54, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Poteau.  Brenda was born June 15, 1959 in Bakersfield, CA to Henry & Carmel (Dial) Griffith.  She was a painter.  Brenda was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Patsy High and brother, Newt Henry Griffith.



Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Terry of Clarksville, AR, Michelle Miller of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Jessica & Elizabeth Mendez; sisters & brothers in law, Lillie & Jack Worley of Hackett, AR, Vina Jo Dunigan of Ceres, CA, Mary & Raymond Brasher of Poteau, OK, Barbara & Tom Terrill of Vancouver, WA, Howard High of Heavener, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews; very special friend, Buzz Shirley; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.



Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Barry Sitton, Matt Rake, Micheal Masters, James Masters, Christopher Bell and Justin Samuel.



The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4-6pm to visit with relatives & friends.]




Lucille Olive



Lucille D. Olive, 96, of Poteau, OK passed away, Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Poteau.  Lucille was born December 27, 1917 in Bengal, OK to Joe & Grace (Walling) Davis.  She was a beautician.  Lucille was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Ann “Pat” Olive of Santa Rosa, CA; 4 nieces, Nadine Brissey, Karen Cole, Susan Davis, Adeana Kracke; 5 nephews, Larry Joe Curry, Joe Russell Davis, Mike Davis & David Davis, John Davis; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck Olive; 3 sisters, Gertrude Boren, Mary Mountain, Joann Curry & 3 brothers, Clarence Davis, Booth Davis and Ross Davis.
 Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.

Frances Hollan



Frances Hollan, 56, of Wister, OK passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Wister.  Frances was born July 23, 1957 in Ft. Smith, AR to Minnie Fern Ruhl Gehab.  Frances was a very loving wife & mother.  She was preceded in death by her mother; stepfather, Jimmie Gehab; grandmother, Irene Eperson.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Jackey Lee Hollan; 3 sons, Andrew James Hollan, Bartley David Allen & Jessica Hollan all of the home; Johnny Everett & Brittney Hollan of Poteau, OK; 6 grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Stormie Hollan, Summer Smith, Kayleigh Smith, Joseph Hollan, Gage Hollan; brothers in law, Bobby, John & Denver Hollan, Bruce Standifer; sisters in law, Connie Simmons, Kathy Williamson; several nieces & nephews; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at LeFlore Baptist Church, LeFlore, OK with Rev. Scott Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in LeFlore Cemetery. 

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
