Dolores Tobey


      Dolores Tobey, 90, of Spiro, OK passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR.      In 1928, Dolores Phillips was born in Bokoshe, Oklahoma. Her parents, Lee Ervin and Claudia Cordelia Phillips, had ten children; Dolores was the youngest. She grew up in Panama, and graduated from Panama High School in 1946. It was in school where she fell in love with her sweetheart and husband of fifty-two years, Dearl Tobey. They married in 1946. Dearl and Dolores had five children, four daughters and one son, and they raised their family in the valley at Hoot Owl Holler. Together, Dearl and Dolores enjoyed spending time with their family at home, on their farm. They also loved to go fishing.
      Always feisty and lively, Dolores was never an indoor person. She loved to be outside, playing with her grandkids and great grandkids. She also loved admiring the flowers, trees, and plants, that grew in her yard, as well as in her pasture, and she always took great care in feeding and watering her birds and her dog Skipper.  Most importantly, she cherished having her family at her house for birthday parties and holidays.
      Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her loving husband, Dearl. She leaves behind five children: Dana Hamilton and husband Larry, Darla Anderson, Debbie Bradberry and husband David, Denise Wagner and husband Steve, and Dearl Tobey and wife Cindy. She also leaves five grandchildren and their spouses: Terrick and Krista Ragan, Taira and Eric Nittka,  Casey and Billy Leaptrot, Trey and Stephanie Tobey and Kalee and Dillan Stallings; ten great grandchildren: Britney Harrison, Teran Byrd, Tyler Ragan, Ryan Ragan, Aaron Wilson, Cassidy Wilson, Brigitte Wilson, Tucker Leaptrot, Rylan Tobey and Natalee Stallings; nieces and nephews: Sunny Ross, Adam and Kerry Ross, and Ethan.
         Services will be  2 pm, Friday, June 29, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.

James L. Baer


          James L. Baer, 78, formerly of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 in Ola, AR.  James  was born  March 14, 1940, in Canon City, CO to Willis J. & Lucille (Fowler) Baer.  He was a paratrooper; and a retired diamond miner.
          James is survived by his daughter, Laura L. Weaver and son, Rick Beck of East Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren, Josie Weaver, Jed & Jessica Del Nero; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
          Private services will be held at a later date.

Brian Allan McKinney


Brian Allan McKinney, 44, of Spiro, OK passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Spiro.  Brian was born October 25, 1973, in Poteau, OK to David & Karren (Permenter) McKinney.  He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Zachary.

Survivors include his sister, Mary McKinney of Ft. Smith, AR; 3 brothers, David McKinney of Ft. Smith, Raymond & Jeremy McKinney of Spiro, OK; 13 nieces and nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, OK with Rev. Eddie Blankenship officiating.

Mary E. Lazalere


       Mary Elvira Lazalere, 76, of Howe, OK passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Howe.  Mary was born February 18, 1942 in Seminole, OK to Cecil Riley & Thelma Daisy (Perdue) Baysinger.  She was an engineer with McDonnell Douglas Corp.  Mary was an animal lover (of any kind).  She went out of her way to help any animal.  She was a great mom, grandma and friend; she was deeply loved by all her children.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan Lazalere; brothers, Ned & Ray Baysinger.
          Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Hughlett of Crestline, CA, Riley Hughlett & wife Marquita of Brookwood, AL; daughter, Cindy Dean & husband Jeff of Howe, OK; nephews, Larry Baysinger of North Platte, NE, Brian Baysinger of Tulsa, OK; niece, Michele Baysinger of Tulsa, OK; numerous grand and great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
          Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK.

Theresa Hankins


              Theresa Marie Hankins, 62, of Wister, OK passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018, in Ft. Smith, AR.  Theresa was born March 10, 1956, in Centralia, IL to Leslie & Lenora (Brown) Hankins.  Family and dear friends meant so much to Theresa.  She loved softball, riding horses, swimming, driving, watching westerns and movies.  She loved watching and playing with her boys.  Theresa loved working with her Dad at Anything.  She collected Beanie Babies, coins; most of all she loved laughing and visiting with friends & family; having her sister cook for her; Kim’s cornbread and chocolate gravy; many, many hours of phone conversations with friends & family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elenor Sue Hankins.

          Survivors include her sister & brother in law, Kathy & Vernon Shatwell of Sapulpa, OK; brother & sister in law, Burr Head & Karen Hankins of Red Oak, OK; 4 nephews & spouses, Brian & Sherry Shadwick of Wister, OK, Cody Shadwick of McAlester, OK, Terril & Jennifer Hankins, Jacky & Tera Hankins of Blackwell, OK; great nieces & nephews, Hannah & Braven Shadwick, Madelyn, Holland Hankins, Drake & Aleah Hankins; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will be at Summerfield Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Larry, Johnny and J.P. Baldwin, Danny Shadwick, Carl Hastings, Randy Burgess.  Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Tolbert, Braven Shadwick,  Drake Hankins.
          The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
