Jane Covey



Frances ‘Jane’ Covey, 86, (formerly of Wister, OK) passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Irving, TX.  Jane was born October 13, 1933 in Matoy, OK to Charles Haskel & Rebecca Ida Almeda (Speer) Knight.  She was a homemaker, minister’s wife & receptionist at Evans & Miller.   She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, “Buck” Charles Malcolm Knight; grandson, Terry Dean “Bud” Osborn, Jr.; and sons in law, Mark Holdge & Greg Morris.



Survivors include her husband of 66 years since March 6, 1954, Jack Covey; children, Deborah Lawson & Steven, Billie Jane Osborn & Terry, Annie Covey Holdge; grandchildren, Terrisha  Jane Osborn, Billy Ray Bradford, Michael Whitmore, Kyler Blake Branin;  6 great grandchildren; sisters, Delores Scott, Sue Pillars & LaNell Malone; a host of beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK  with Jim Cook & Eddie Nelson officiating.  Interment will be 10 am, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Boswell Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday evening Aug. 3 from 6-8 pm. Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Bradford, Kyler Branin, Randy Malone, Mark Malone, Lance Pillars, Rodney Scott.  PLEASE WEAR A MASK TO VISITATION - AND SERVICE -

Wilma Phillips


           Wilma Lorene Phillips, 89, of the Poteau area passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 in Little Rock, AR.  Wilma was born June 30, 1931 in Hydro, OK to Wm. Garret & Era Wilma Casey Hutchings.  Wilma was in the first graduating class for nurses at Carl Albert and went on to RN school.  After graduating as an RN she worked at Sparks Hospital until she had to retire due to her health. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Phillips; her parents; brother, Rev. Bill Hutchings; sisters, Wanda Bennett & Angela Hutchings; son, Joey Phillips and granddaughter, Randi Thompson.

          Survivors include her son, John Phillips of Alabama; daughter, Sandra & Jim Glen of Arkansas, Gloria Cornell & Kathy Phillips of Poteau, OK; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia & Laymon Garrison of Muskogee, OK, Linda & Myron Venable of Vian, OK; special son in law, Richard Kaminer; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Wister City Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday.

Howard "Buddy" McCollom


Howard Lynn “Buddy” McCollom, 62, of Wister, OK passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Wister.  Buddy was born April 6, 1958 in Poteau, OK to Howard Loyd & Margaret (Phillips) McCollom.  He worked in the oilfields,  ”milkman” for Hiland Dairy & assistant manager for LeFlore County Solid Waste Management.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandson, Zaven Lynn Dmitri Johnson; mother in law & father in law, Durell & Opal Morgan; brothers in law, Eldon Williams, Sam Fuller, Larry Meeh & Wayne Knight.

     Survivors include his wife, Barbara Morgan McCollom; daughters & sons in law, Amanda & Adam Hagelberger, Samantha & Brandon Johnson; grandchildren, Kaydence & Zylie Thornburg, Ephram & Rowan Johnson, Tristin, Blair & Chloe Hagelberger; sister, Judy McKinney & Stanley; his mother Margaret; brothers in law & sisters in law, Phyllis Williams, Donna Fuller, JoAnn & Podie Meeks, Bess Meeh, Geraldine Duncan, Glenda & Donny Shadwick, Bud Morgan, Lana Klein, Cliff & Shelly Morgan; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

       Graveside services will be 10 am, Monday, August 3, 2020 at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister,  OK.  Pallbearers will be Bud, Cliff & Clayton Morgan, Ron Bacon, John & Bill Meeh, Brad Knight.   DONATIONS  may be made to Ellis Chapel Cemetery Assoc.


Mary Lee Jones


Mary Lee Jones, 85, of Pocola, OK passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Pocola.  Mary was born October 13, 1934 in Ft. Smith, AR to Jesse Clement & Ava Lee (Williams) Pinkston.  She was a retired Registered Nurse.  Mary was a beloved mother who enjoyed motorcycling with her husband, going to the lake & water skiing. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hollis Jones; brothers, John & Jesse Pinkston; sister, Earlene Pinkston.



Survivors include her children, David Jones, Clement Jones, Marie Galvan & Robert Jones;  grandchildren, Rosa, James, Drew & Nicholas Jones, Eddie, Jesse, Martina & Victor Galvan; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Ava Jean Wilson; brother, Joe Pinkston; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Monday, August 3, 2020 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, OK.  There will be no visitation
