B.T. Davis



B.T. Davis, 88, of Howe, OK passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  B.T. was born May 11, 1929 to Elra & Ruby (Spears) Davis.   He was a lineman for Kiamichi Electric for 42 years.  B.T. was a devoted member of Broadway Church of Christ in Poteau, OK.  He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.  But his favorite past-time was family and playing with grand and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roger Davis and infant sister, Ruby Nell.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Rea (Kinnikin) of the home; daughters, Janice Lungstrum & husband Dennis of Howe, OK, Susan (Kiger) Davis of Hackett, AR; 4 grandchildren, Rob Lungstrum & wife Kathie of McAlester, OK,  Anthony "T.J." Lungstrum & wife Sarah of Fulton, MO, Tonya Swim & husband Kent of Verdigris, OK, Joe Ryan Kiger & wife Katie of North Little Rock, AR; 4 great grandchildren, Autumn, Meadow & Matthew Lungstrum, Finley Swim; 1 sister, Rachel McClain & husband Don of Wilburton, OK; 1 brother, Marion "Bubby" Davis & wife Margaret of Pond Creek, OK; sister in law, Helen Davis of Wilburton, OK; aunt, Fern McCabe of Wilburton, OK; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday,  August 22, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories.  Private interment will be at Howe Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Jack Dempsey Harris



Jack Dempsey Harris, 92, of Panama, OK passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Panama.  Jack was born  June 20, 1925 in Williams, OK to Wiley & Tempy (Garrett) Harris.  He was a retired factory worker, farmer & entertainer by heart.  Jack was named after the great boxer Jack Dempsey.  When Jack got older he went to California to fulfill his dreams of becoming a boxer, but the only bout he had was boxing oranges.  Jack was a great entertainer.  He loved to make people laugh; he loved to sing, play the spoons and play dominoes with his in-laws & friends.  His greatest performance was dressing up  as Geraldine. But his Grand Finale is performing in Heaven.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Debbie McGrath; grandson, Joshua Edwards; brothers, Paul, Roger, Dooley, Palmer & Eugene Harris; sister, Maxine Pierce.



Survivors include his wife of 61 years (married March 10, 1956) Imogene (Hale)  of the home; sons, Gary Cloud of Panama, Ronnie Harris & wife Barbara of Poteau, Donnie Harris & wife Lillie of Panama, Jackie Harris & wife Judy, Eugene Harris & wife Shelly all of Shady Point; daughter, Trudy Edwards & husband Freddie of Cameron; brother, Bobby Dale "Buddy" Harris & wife Connie of Panama; sister, Mary Brassfield of Spiro; grandchildren, Jason Cloud & wife Alba of Panama, Kelly Brown & husband Thomas of Shady Point, Ronnie Harris Jr. & wife April of Van Buren, AR, Jennifer Gollihare & husband Chris of Panama, Jeff Potter of Spiro, Matthew Harris, Jackie Wayne Harris & wife Jamie all of Panama, Dusty Harris & wife Kelly of Norman, Timothy Edwards & wife Sara of Rock Island, Kevin Edwards & wife Miranda of Peoria, IL, Eric Edwards & wife Priscilla of Bandy, VA, Nicole Boone & husband Colton of Panama, Bradley Harris of Shady Point; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great  grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.



Services will be 2 pm - Monday, August 21, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Panama.  Pallbearers will be Jason Cloud, Ronnie Harris Jr, Timothy Edwards, Jackie Wayne Harris, Dusty Harris & Bradley Harris.  Honorary pallbearers  will be Kevin Edwards, Eric Edwards, Jeff Potter, Chris Gollihare, Matthew Harris, Colton Boone & Thomas Brown.



The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Scott Saling



Scott Saling, 54, of Spiro, OK passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.  Scott was born August 15, 1963 in Boron, CA to William & Ava (Watt) Saling.  He was a heavy equipment operator, construction worker & mason.  He was preceded in death by his father, William Saling; brother, Bill Saling; grandparents, Cecil & Ruby Watt, Leonard Sr. & Leota Hill; nephew, David Payton.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Allyn Saling of Maryland; parents, Ava & Leonard Hill of Panama, OK; sisters, Gina & Rod Birckel of Porum, OK, Gaye & Shawn McGuinness of Georgia; brother, Shane Saling of Spiro, OK; nephews, Justin & Erika Hendren of Topeka, KS, Austin & Tara Kennedy of Georgia; nieces, Melissa Upton of Panama, OK, Nicole Cinadr of Tulsa, OK; one special uncle, Richard Watt of Bristow, OK; numerous aunts & uncles; 4 great nephews and 4 great nieces.

Services will be 2 pm, Saturday,  August 19, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.   Interment will follow in Council Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mark Lingenfelter, Melissa Upton, Justin Hendren, Chad Eaton, Rod Birckel, Matt Birckel.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Saling, Louis Emery, Joey Decker & Harvey Painter.

The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Carl Lee Owens Jr.



Carl  Lee Owens Jr., 59 of Heavener, OK passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at his home.  Carl was born December 13, 1957 in Charlotte, NC to Carl Lee Sr. & Susanna (Davis) Owens.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  He was retired from Walmart.  Carl was preceded in death by his father; brother, Henry Owens and sister, Margaret Owens Ayala.

Survivors include his mother, Susanna Davis of Wister, OK and sister, Susan Owens Lee of OKC; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3 pm, Friday, August 18, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Charlie Scott officiating. 

Mary Thornley



Mary Katheleen Thornley, 72, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Mary was born August 15, 1945 in Howe, OK to M.M. "Sonny" & Odean (Hickman) Nichols.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her daughters, Autumn Alzate of Ft. Smith, AR, Crystal  & Christopher Sumpter,  Tasha & DeCoty  Cooper of Poteau, OK; step daughter, Kimberlynn Jenkins of Ft. Smith, AR; 7 grandchildren, Shadow, Jasmine, Jeremy, Ivy, Kylee, Emmrie & Hadly; 3 great grandchildren, Ashtyn, Alexis and Jaxson;  other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK.  Pallbearers will be Jeremy Thornley, Christopher Sumpter, DeCoty Cooper, Mike Thornley, Kylee Miles and Ivy Miles.
