James Lee Estep



James Lee Estep, 73, of Shady Point, OK passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 in Shady Point.  James was born February 22, 1944 in Foreman, AR to Edgar Lee & Dovie Eugenia (Akins) Estep.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Coleta; daughter, Michele Hudson of Shady Point, OK; son, Jason Lee Estep of Talihina, OK; grandchildren, Derrek Pebsworth of Avery, TX, Ondrea Johnson of Spiro, OK, Chance Estep of Ft. Smith, AR, Tori Peterson of Van Buren,  AR; great grandchildren, Sageleigh James Duncan, Jensen Elliot Johnson; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 10 am, Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Shady Point Assembly of God Church.

Scottie Ray Stanley



Scottie Ray Stanley, 36, of Shady Point, OK passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 in Poteau, OK.  Scottie was born September 3, 1980 in Ft. Smith, AR to Joseph and Dana Kay (Getz) Stanley.  Scottie was a Mechanic.    Scottie is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne & Patsy Bottoms, Joe Stanley Sr.; great grandmother, Ada Jones; uncles Terry Getz; great uncles, Pete Jones, Johnny Jones, Bob Allen Jones; cousins, Garon Mead, Robbie Garcia, Yancy Long & Russell Jones.

Scottie is survived by his wife, Lacey of the home; two daughters, Allyson Stanley of Wister, OK & Adrianna Stanley of Poteau, OK; two sons, Racer & Driftin of the home.  Mother & Step Dad, Dana and Ed House of Poteau; Dad and Step Mom, Joseph & Sue Stanley of Conway, AR; sister, Jodie Trotter & friend Artis of Carrollton, TX; two brothers, Ethan House of Poteau and Michael Graham Getz of Tulsa; step brothers, Gene & Sara House of Pocola, OK, David & Tina House of Muldrow, OK, Daniel House of Muldrow, OK; Step sister, Billie House of Muldrow, OK; Aunts Susie & Gerald Fox and Debbie & Tommy Mead, Nona McNally, Donna Burick, Eileen Garcia & Kim Shea; Uncles, Danny & Carla Getz, Paul & Mary Ann Getz, Jimmy & Mona Getz, Tommy & Judy Jones, Gary Jones; five nieces and five nephews. A host of family, friends and loved ones.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2017  from 6pm-8pm at Evans Chapel of Memories.

Services will be 11 am, Friday, September 1, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.

Wanda Lee Macy



Wanda Lee Macy, 87, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Wanda was born September 4, 1929 in Williams, OK to William Arthur & Edith Naomi (Hobbs) Green.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Macy; daughter, Janice Dodds Audas;  and sister, Lula Faye VanVeKoven.



Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Permenter of Poteau, OK, Pamela Matthews of College Station, TX; 7 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.  Wanda will be interred at the National Cemetery, Ft. Smith, AR.

No services are scheduled.

Doris Frances Garrett Nelson



 Doris Frances Nelson, 87, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Poteau.  Doris was born August 28, 1929 in Ft. Smith, AR to Curtis L. & Mattie (Griffith) Garrett.  She attended Golden West College, CA.  Doris retired from Tension Envelope in California after 20 years.  She was a long time member of the  "Roses Quilting Group" .  She loved all those ladies dearly.  The "Twisted Sisters Red Hat Ladies" brought so much happiness to her life.  She was an avid reader and loved  crosswords puzzles.   Doris was a proud descendant of Robert Henry Mitchell.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles A. Nelson; sister, Mona Mozelle (Garrett) Gaither; son, Robert D. Nelson; grandson, David Clark Jr.



She is survived by her daughter, Linda Nelson (David) Clark of Woodbridge, CA; grandson, James Clark of Santa Cruz, CA; granddaughter, Carmen Clark (Michael) Lindsay of Salem, OR; niece (more like a daughter) Martha Gaither (John) Carroll of Poteau, OK; sister, Madge Garrett Meisner of Kansas City, KS; granddaughters, Elizabeth, Katie, Cassie, Riley and Seras from Hawaii to Delaware.



There will be no services at Doris' request.

Luretha Carol Caldwell



Luretha Carol Caldwell, 82, of  Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Heavener, OK.  Luretha was born December 10, 1934 in Tarby, OK to Leonard Earl & Lena Viola (Dickinson) Coggins.  She was a program director for USDA. Luretha was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church where she played piano and organ.  She also played for the Poteau Business Men's Choral Group, Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Coggins & the father of her children, Bruce Caldwell.

Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Michele & Todd Peters of Poteau, OK; sons & daughters in law,  Mark & Lorraine Caldwell of  Poteau, OK, Matt & Donna Caldwell of Sallisaw, OK;  6 grandchildren, Chase Caldwell, Chelsea Thomas, Lisa Minor, Samantha Cory,  Aaron Caldwell & Leah Montgomery; 5 great grandchildren, Lizzie Thomas, Fletcher Mark Thomas, Easton Montgomery, Thatcher Minor & Tucker Minor; sister, Nancy Coggins  Rotz of Cushing, OK; brother, Dr. Larry Coggins of Oklahoma City; nieces, Dr. Lisa Rotz and Nancy Rotz Jackson; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial  services will be 10 am, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church,  Poteau, OK with Revs. Jim Reed and Jim Cook officiating. 

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
