Curtis James Seaton



Curtis James Seaton, 64, of Cameron, OK passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Curtis was born September 3, 1952 in Cameron, OK to Homer & Lola Jean (Goins) Seaton.  He was a truck driver.  Curtis was preceded in death by his father; brother, Gary and sister, Patricia; as well as his grandparents, Owen & Elvie Seaton, Otto & Ola Mae Goins.



Survivors include his loving wife, Niwona Seaton; mother, Lola Jean Seaton of Spiro, OK;  brothers, Dale Seaton of Cameron, OK, Dewayne & Beckie Seaton of Panama, OK; mother Lola Jean Seaton of Spiro, OK; special dogs, Biggen, Tippy & Gracy; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 10 am, Friday, June 30, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron.  Pallbearers will be George Jones, Steve Tucker, Boyd Johnson, Damond Keys, Michael Standridge, Jackie Lomon, Mark Phillips.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Evans, Vernon Conaway and Hot Rod Noah.

There is NOT a specific family visitation time.

Deanna Y. Martin


Deanna Yvonne Martin, 62, of Panama, OK passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Deanna was born August 19, 1954 in Poteau, OK to Robert & Shirley (Keeran) Darneal.  She was a registered nurse. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, Ryan Keylon; brother, Keith Darneal. 

Survivors include her sons, Robbie &  Tara Keylon of Pocola, OK, Dusty & Barbie Keylon of Panama, OK; grandchildren, Madison Keylon, Emma Keylon, Tyler Keylon, Dustin Fields; sister, Newana Loomis; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK.  Pallbearers will be Jamie Darneal, Randy Darneal, Robbie Keylon, Ron Loomis, Billy Cook and Shannon Darneal.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 to visit with relatives & friends.
     

Edna Highfill



Edna Sanders Highfill was born October 18, 1918 in Tom, OK to A.A. and Martha Ellen Sanders.  She departed this life on June 26, 2017 in Poteau, OK.   



She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude Highfill, son-in-law, Bryan McCarver, grandson, Keith McCarver, Grandson-in-law, Larry Weigand, and great-grandson, Daniel McCarver, 3 brothers and 1 sister.



She is survived by 2 daughters, Claudette and husband Glenn Hall of Fort Smith, AR and Carolyn McCarver of Poteau, a special niece, Janice Pickle, of Poteau; also 3 grandchildren, Glenda Weigand of Fort Smith, Dennis and wife Becky Hall of Allen, TX, Cheryl and husband Harold Means of Wister, and a granddaughter-in-law, Coni and husband Tony Rayburn of Poteau; 6 great-grandchildren, Cheryl Lynn and husband Bill Marvin of Greenwood, AR, Jamie and husband Joe Harrison of Newton, KS, Kristi Craig of Poteau, OK, Eric and wife Hannah Hall of Dallas, TX, Austin Hall and Kelly of Ft. Worth, TX, and Lauren Weigand of Lynn Haven, FL; 5 great  great grandchildren, Arabelle Marvin, Connor Marvin, Colin Marvin, Jathen Harrison, and Josten Harrison.



Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with Rev. Donald Highfill officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ron Graves, Jason Graves, Tony Rayburn, Michael Highfill, Harold Means and Bill Marvin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Hall and Austin Hall.

Margaret "Peggy" Storer



Wife, Mother Oma, Sister, Friend
Margaret "Peggy" Storer, 61, of Shady Point, OK received her wings on June 25, 2017 while in her home surrounded by loved ones.  Peggy was born May 1, 1956 in Alliance, NE to Paul & Barbara (Bader) Guthmann. Peggy worked for EOMC as an X-Ray Technician and Mammographer.  She impacted many lives during her near two decades of service to the community.  She attended Immaculate Conception Church in Poteau, OK where she flourished in a faith that was established as a  young child during her First Communion.  Peggy volunteered in her community along with her family, friends, and co-workers.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.  She spent countless hours loving and teaching them.  Their lives will be forever impacted by her constant presence and unconditional love and support.  Peggy was a devoted wife, an incredible mother, and a phenomenal Oma, as well as a loyal friend to many.  Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion.  Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathleen.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Storer; children, Jason Storer, Rachel Smith & husband Bradley,  and Lisa Storer;  Grandchildren, Jacob Pierce, Kylee Storer, Tyler Storer, Canon Smith, Carson Smith & Lexi Storer;  Brother & Sisters, Suzanne Grasso, Pauleen Dolling, Chuck Guthman, Madeline Archer, Jane Birkey, Mary Young, Anne Blumenshine, Jo Fuller, and Shelly Osterman; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Poteau with Father Joe officiating.  Interment will follow at Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.  Pallbearers will be Jason Storer, Jacob Pierce, Bradley Smith, Logan Hayes and Robert Moore Sr.

There will be a Rosary and visitation on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Evans Chapel.

Janet Fox



Troy Janet Brookover-Scroggins-Fox, 82, of Cameron, OK passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Cameron.          She was born June 25, 1935 in Pottsville, AR .   Janet graduated from Cameron High School in 1953.  She worked for the Poteau Newspaper for over 25 years.  Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Ida Mae (Brookover) Scroggins; husband, Billy George Fox; daughter, Laura Fox-LeLeux; and brother, Jim Scroggins.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynda Fox of Poteau, OK, Darla Fox of Ft. Worth, TX; sons, Nathan Fox & Melinda of Cameron, OK, Jerald & Susan Fox of Shady Point, OK; grandchildren, Troy Eckelhoff & Mel, Todd Eckelhoff & Kristen, Shannon Johns & James, Josh McClain & Monet, Brandon Fox & Amanda, Nick Fox & Brandy, Morgan Fox, Lindsey Fox, Emily LeLeux and Robert Lafayette; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Melba Hall, Fran Harber & Allen, Jean Roberson & Jim, Nancy Mayberry & Jack; her beloved dog, Daisy; a host of other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Poteau with Rev. Jim Cook & Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron.  Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
