Logan Howard, 89. of Pocola, OK passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in Pocola. Logan was born May 15, 1921 in Mountainburg, AR to Fred & Texarkanna (Meadows) Howard. He was retired from civil service. Logan was a veteran of US Army, past president of the Pocola Lions Club, past president of Rural Water District #2. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John & George Howard; 2 sisters, Lucille Gray & Louise Harris; and grandson, Stuart Jeremiah.
Logan is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; son & daughter in law, Mike & Debbie Howard of Pocola, OK; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Jeremiah, Tiffany Chumley, Crystal Richmond, & Jason Gist; 4 great grandchildren, Lane Jeremiah, Logan Chumley, Ashton Gist and Alyssa Gist; 2 sisters, Almetta "Tom" Clark and Loretta "Babe" Woodard of Pocola, OK; brother, M.M. Howard of Spiro, OK; 2 very special friends, Robert Poole and Bud Cole; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be held 2 pm, Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Christian Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola, OK with Rev. Jimmy Waldrop & Rev. Gaylon Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, OK. Pallbearers will be Stan Gray, Derrell Clark, Lane Jeremiah, Leroy Jeremiah, Larry Woodard, Phillip Woodard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, A.J. Barnes, Dale Elmore, Bill McMahan, Star Sims, Joe Yates, Randy Riggs & the Deacons of Christian Grove Free Will Baptist Church. The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Friday evening, May 28th from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
