Margaret Moreau Reid,79, of Poteau, OK passed away April 12, 2010. Ms. Reid was born September 16, 1930 in Jackson, MS, to Rev. William Edward & Margaret Power Moreau. She attended schools in Fernandina Beach, FL, Jackson & French Camp, MS where she graduated from high school in 1947. Margaret graduated from Lyon College in Batesville, AR in 1947, & attended graduate schools at Mississippi State University & the University of South Carolina. She married the late Herbert Paul Reid of Union, SC in November 1952. For many years, Margaret taught at Terrell's Bay High School, Centenary, SC. AS a lifelong Presbyterian, she served her church in several roles, as a teacher, as an Elder, as superintendent of Sunday Schools, & as an active member of several nurture groups. Her never-wavering faith and the support of family & church gave her great strength to overcome many losses during her lifetime, beginning with the tragic death of her father when she was only six years old. She gave as much or more than she received. After the death of her husband, Margaret joined the family of her late sister, Jane Moreau Moudy. Although she never had children of her own, she played important roles in developing the lives of young people through her teaching, care of nephews, & guardianship of James Moudy, Jane's adopted son. She shared that duty with her great friend & loving caregiver, Joanna Moudy Anderson of Heavener, OK. James is completing a degree at Carl Albert State College. Margaret is survived by her brother, David H. Moreau and his wife Polly of Chapel Hill, NC; 3 sisters in law, Eleanor Babb of Bishopville, SC, Tillie Reid & Virginia Smith, both of Union, SC and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 16, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, Poteau, OK. Burial will be at a later date in Union, SC.
