Jimmie Evelyn Gibson, 80,
of Wister, OK
passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Ft. Smith, AR. Jimmie was born June 20, 1933 in Summerfield, OK
to Melvin & Maudie (Blankenship) Barnes.
She was a librarian. Jimmie was
on the election board; she was active in the community and her church, Bethel Baptist &
their choir. Jimmie loved to quilt; she
was well known for her pie making skills. Jimmie was preceded in death by her
parents; daughter, Linda Brown; son in law, Ted Hammons; grandson, Jake
Hammons.
Survivors include her
husband of 62 ½ years, Harold of the home; daughter, Kathy Hammons of Wister,
OK; sons & daughters in law, Richard & Michelle Gibson of Wister, OK,
David & Michele Gibson of Talihina, OK; son in law, Geary Brown of
Sallisaw, OK 11 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers & sister in
law, Tony Barnes of Summerfield, Vernon & Wanda Barnes of Wister, OK;
numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved
friends.
Services will be 10 am,
Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church,
Wister, OK
with Rev. Clyde Steelman officiating.
Interment will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery,
Wister, OK. Pallbearers
will be Donnie DeWitt, Bill Bullard, Bill Young, Jerry Harmon, Jim
Horne, Joe Seaborn.
The family will be at the
funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives &
friends.
