Bill J. Barber

   Bill J. Barber, 82, of Poteau, OK passed away  Monday, January 6, 2014 in Poteau.  Bill was born September 26, 1931 in Checotah, OK to John W. & Lelia C. (Borum) Barber.  He was preceded in death by wife, Alma Lou on April 27, 2000.   The list of Bill’s involvements and accomplishments is extensive – a token of that list follows: farm born baby, brother to 4 sisters, motherless at age 11, stepson, husband, father, grandfather,  country store clerk, student, lineman, truck driver, electrician, fireman, businessman/owner, financier, banker, land owner/visionary, Lions Club member, Sunday School teacher, church trustee, deacon, college regent, advisor, hard worker, friend, giver, witness, and his most prized name, Christian.

Survivors include his wife, Anita of the home; daughter, Janita Hendricks & husband John, of Poteau; sons, Ron Barber & wife, Debbie of Jenks; Russell Barber & wife Belva of Poteau; stepdaughter, Trayce Kerbow Riley; grandchildren – Ben Barber & wife Brady, Jarel Hendricks Brown & husband PJ, Brittney Barber Summers & husband Kyle, Katelyn Barber Johnson & husband Zane, Kasey Barber Minks & husband Britt, Javon Hendricks Duncan & husband Jake, Maggie Barber, Tony Riley & wife Misty, Tristin Riley;

Great grandchildren, Brooks, Blaire & Banks Barber, Jackson Summers, Max Brown; sisters, Theda June Stone of Colusa, CA, Ruth Ramsey of Checotah, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 1 pm, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Hamilton Auditorium, Carl Albert State College, Poteau, OK with Rev. Bob Thompson and Rev. Keith Burden officiating.  Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Gideon's Int'l, Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College, Moore, OK, or CASC Development Foundation. 

*** The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-7 to visit  with relatives & friends.
