Eunice Turman

Eunice Irene (Camp) Turman died peacefully after a long illness on August 31, 2012.  Eunice was born January 27, 1913 in Greenwood, AR to Matthew Madison and Ida Mae (Caldwell) Camp.  She moved to Poteau in 1927.  She graduated from Poteau High School in 1931.  On March 31, 1934, she married the love of her life Woodrow Wilson Turman.  As a member of the First Baptist Church of Poteau, she taught church school for many years.  She was involved in the 20th Century Club, the Garden Club and the Camera Club.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, traveling, reading and crossword puzzles.  Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include her son, Woodrow Turman, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; her grandsons, John Turman of Oklahoma City and Steve Turman and wife, Julie of Poteau; many nephews and nieces; and her special friend Sharon Preston of Tulsa.
The family thanks the many friends and caregivers who allowed Eunice to live independently for the past ten years.
Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Poteau.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider donations to the First Baptist Church.
