Bruce Edward Grindstaff
Bruce was an Electrician by trade and held several licenses in the construction field in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Bruce retired from Fort Smith Public Schools, Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he was the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for 20 years.
Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved Son Christopher Grindstaff who he loved more than life itself. Parents Harry and Barbara Grindstaff. Parents-in-law Kenneth and Dorothy (Page) Johnson. Brother Todd Grindstaff and wife Paula. Brother-in-law William Lofthouse. Nephew Kenneth Lofthouse Grandparents D. A. and Mary Grindstaff, William and Josephine Craft.
Bruce is survived by his wife Diana of the home. Brother, Michael A. and wife Debbie of Edmond, OK. Sister Robin and husband John Ross of Mustang, OK. Sister-in-law Donna Lofthouse of Woodland, CA. Two special nephews, Michael B. Grindstaff and wife Tricia of Durango Co and Jeffery Grindstaff and wife Coleen of Edmond, OK. Two of the sweetest great nieces in the world, Lynnley Grindstaff and Abigail Grindstaff. Special Bonus Son and friend Matthew Davidson and wife Chelsea of Cleburne, TX who also blessed him with the title of Papa to Rivers and Madilyn Davidson. Uncle Don Grindstaff and wife Shirley of Minnesota. Aunt Renate Craft of Virginia. Pups Bristol, Gracie, and Coco. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John Wayne Robertson
He was born on January 27, 1959 in La Chapelle, France to Pearl R. (Durant) Bost and Eugene L. Robertson and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene L. Robertson; mother Pearl R. Bost; stepfather, Bob Bost; brother, David Robertson; and very special companion Ann Caldwell.
Survivors include a son Kevin Robertson; a daughter, Amanda Ashley and husband Jimmy; sisters, Janet Bixler, Terrie Robbins, Sandra Menglekoch, and Pam Thomas; grandchildren, Halie Ashley, Ethan Ashley,Izabelle Ashley, Bryson Robertson, Peyton Robertson, and Mason Ashley; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
Royal Otis Pritt
He was born on June 14, 1946 in Given, West Virginia to Kathleen (Smith) Pritt and Roy Pritt and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was married to Rose Mary (Cox) Pritt on 4-2-1966 in Columbus, Ohio. . was preceded in by his parents Roy and Kathleen Pritt.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years Rose Pritt; a daughter, Sandy Horton and husband Joe; a son, Roy Pritt; a granddaughter, Rebakah Young; great grandchildren, Maverick Young and Jamison Young; brothers, Gary Pritt and Wayne Pritt and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral Service for Reverend Ray L. Hood, 100 of Pocola, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Friday, August 5, 2022 at First Assembly of God in Muldrow, Oklahoma with Reverend Shawn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home
Ray was born on May 27, 1922 in Panama, Oklahoma to Cora (Cummings) Hood and Columbus G. Hood and passed away on August 2, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Pauline Hood; parents; brothers and sisters, Ivie Smith, Aurbie Willingham, Lester Hood, Omer Hood, Jonnie Hood, Dulice Browder, Lorena Bayne, Jimmie Hood. Ray was called into the ministry in 1954 and has served in the ministery for 68 years.
Survivors include: nephews, Bryan Grober, Colton Grober, Caelum Grober, Lucas Johnson; nieces, Chasidy Johnson and husband Dillon, Kenzlie Newby, Stacy Grober; sister in law, Pat Grober and husband Bill; numerous other relatives, and loved ones.

Trudy was born on August 9, 1944 to Lucille (Prater) Cheely and Roland Baxter and passed away on July 31, 2022 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Mosblech; mother; son; Don E. Young; aunt, Doris Ripper; grandmother, Artrude Prater.
Survivors include: son, Keith Webb and husband Billy Ragan; brother, James N. Cheely; numerous other relatives, and loved ones.

James "Bob" Albert Deaton was born in Howe, Ok October 15, 1931. Bob passed away on July 25, 2022 in Orange, CA. He is survived by Edward & Elena Deaton and granddaughter Inessa Rose Deaton. Bob will be joining wife Virginia Rose and son Robert Jones in Howe and son James Jr in eternity. Bob served honorably for 22 years in the United states Navy retiring in 1972 as Chief Petty Officer and went on to work for Eaton Corporation before retiring to Eufaula, OK. Moving to San Antonio with Virginia Rose for her health reasons and after the deaths of his wife and son James, Bob moved to Orange, Ca to be with his granddaughter, Bob passed away in his sleep after a five-month battle with various ailments.
Loving caring husband, father, grandfather and a man who never turned his back on family or friends. Just a great guy!
He is loved and will be missed!

Jimmy Lowe
He was born on April 2, 1937 in Wister, Oklahoma to Otis Minnie Lee McDonald and Harrison Lowe and passed away on July 29, 2022 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcia Lowe; daughter-in-law, Dustie Lowe.
Survivors include: 4 children; daughter, Leanne Thompson and husband Jack; daughter, Gayle Barnard and husband Luke; son, James Lowe and wife Anna; son,Tracy Lowe; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister Shirley Johnston, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Jimmy lived in California he retired, and moved back to Panama. He came from a big family of 10 children, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters. He was a Deacon for 30yrs, taught Sunday school, served on many church boards, and in the children orphanage for many years.
Pallbearers will be James Donald Lowe, Mathew Lowe, Adam Eden, Michael Lowe, Seth Lowe, and Timothy Eden.

Lilia Flores
Lilia is survived by her husband Florinio (Ronnie); her daughters Jennifer-Lynn Cauthen with husband Timothy and Jessica Jaymalin with husband Robert; her grandchildren Allen Cauthen, Shelby Ingle, Ashley Cauthen, Ariana Jaymalin, Alyssa Jaymalin and Andrew Jaymalin; great grandchildren, Tate Ingle, Cole Ingle, and Amelie Cauthen; her brothers Francisco Faustino, Jr. and Noel Faustino. She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco Sr. and Gregoria Faustino, and her brother Rolando Faustino.
Lilia married her childhood sweetheart Ronnie on Christmas Eve in New York City. They were stationed in Honolulu before they welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer, in Pensacola, FL. They welcomed their second daughter, Jessica, while they were stationed in Charleston, SC. She worked in cancer research at the Medical University South Carolina before they retired in the Philippines.
Lilia loved traveling the world with her family. She enjoyed many adventures with Ronnie across the globe. When she wasn’t going on their trips, she was active in her church groups: Couples for Christ, Marriage Encounter, PREX (Parish Renewal Experience), CLAYE (Catholic Lay Evangelization) and their prayer meetings. Outside of serving in the church, she enjoyed playing card games and mahjong, as well as watching NBA games and tennis on TV. She had a daily devotion to the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy and attending mass on EWTN.
There will be no viewing. The interment will be at the Immaculate Conception Church Columbarium in Fort Smith, AR on Thursday, July 28th at 10am. In remembrance of Lilia’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude’s Medical Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
Ovil Brand
Ovil was born on August 5, 1940 in Monroe, Oklahoma to Opal (Mays) Brand and Arvil Brand and passed away on July 24, 2022 in Howe, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Faye Brand; one sister; one daughter, Kim Albert.
Survivors include: son, Mark and wife Kally Brand; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

Glenn "Poncho" Newburn
Funeral Service for Glenn Edwin "Poncho" Newburn, 73 of Red Oak, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Bethal Baptist Church in Wister, Oklahoma with Tracy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
Glenn Edwin “Poncho” Newburn was born on July 31, 1948 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Glen and Mary (Boyer) Newburn and passed from this life on July 15, 2022.
Poncho married Janice (Lyons) Newburn on August 27, 1968. Together they shared almost 54 years.
He loved history, genealogy, and arrowhead hunting. He was the Chaplain for the Sons of Confederate Veterans for the Poteau Chapter. He served as a deacon at the United Freewill Baptist Church in Red Oak.
Poncho’s welding career spanned over 43yrs starting in the shipyards in Port Arthur, Texas where he helped construct the famous “Zapata Ugland” one of the largest semi-submersible off shore drilling rig that was towed from Port Arthur, Texas to the North Sea; Aberdeen, Scotland.
He was an accomplished Christian song writer and won many awards finally competing at the 700 Club in Virginia Beach. Above all he loved his Lord and Savior and spent many hours in bible study and prayer. It was his main desire to be a friend and to reach others for Christ.
Glenn is survived by his wife Janice; son Joe Newburn and wife Stacy of Wilburton; 2 grandchildren, Aaron and Brenna Newburn of Red Oak; granddaughter Kodi Newburn of Wilburton; 2 great grandchildren, Denham Newburn, and Berklee Ogden; sister, Carolyn Fulsom and husband Walter; and very special mentor and friend in Christ, Bill Hardin; along with a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ariel Lynn Cardenas
Ariel was born on January 14, 1992 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Crystal (Ward) Fout and Ricky Cardenas and passed away on July 16, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Jesse and Anna Mae Ward of Poteau, Oklahoma; aunt, Jeri Maler of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Ariel was learning the guitar and piano. She loved to paint and draw and make beautiful works of art. (Lots of Rainbows) She wanted every day to be an adventure and never was scared of a challenge. She never got enough of being with her friends or family, and taking on the phone for hours to anyone who wanted to share their life with her. She joined the healing tree and was going to help so many people as a clinical mental health counselor. She would always make new friends everywhere we went. Her bubbly personality and beautiful soul always made her the life of the party. Multiple times a day she would squeeze and kiss and love on her dog Abraham Maslow. She brought so much joy to everyone she ever met. She will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. - My love always Christopher
Ariel was a very loving and kind person beautiful inside and out she never knew a stranger even as a child. She has such a passion of life, and living it to the fullest. She enjoyed music, movies, outings, playing games and cards, swimming, kayaking, but mostly she enjoyed spending her time with her fiancé Chris, family, friends, and her beloved pup Maslow. She was a hard worker she achieved every goal she made for herself including a master’s degree in psychology (counseling), graduating with honors. Although her time here on earth was short, she touched so many lives and hearts. She will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. and Daniel B. Casey and passed away on July 15, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Margetta was preceded in death by her husband Ernest James Johnson of 70 years, one son Michael Ray Johnson, mother Rosa Casey, father Daniel Casey, two brothers James Walter Casey and Harvey Benton Casey, as well as many friends and relatives.

Anna was an LPN, a friend, attended church at Southside Baptist, she loved to spend time with friends laughing.

Sarah Annette Jacinto
Sarah was born on September 24, 1986 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Betty (Ludlow) and Melvin G. Melton and passed away on July 3, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by brother, Harrison Melton; uncle, Jerry Melton; grandparents, Martson Ludlow, Serena McKinney, Benjamin and Dorthy Melton. Sarah lived her life doing what she loved most and that was taking care of her family cooking for them, and for whoever else was hungry. She enjoyed going on rides with her daughter Jessenia and hanging out with friends. Sarah had the biggest and kindest heart toward anyone she met she was the kind of person who welcomed you into her home anytime anyone needed help or a place to stay. She never treated anyone like a stranger in her eyes you were family. She leaves behind a loving husband, three wonderful children tons of family and friends. James Craig Hogan
James Craig Hogan of Howe, Oklahoma, passed away July 5, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born to James Houston Hogan and Christine (Gourley) Hogan at Eufaula, Oklahoma on August 11, 1949.
James spent his childhood traveling the world with his parents, his father being in the Air Force they lived overseas in England before moving back to the states to live in Humbolt, TX, before finally settling in Hitchita, OK. He joined the Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for 22 years with 7 years spent in Vietnam. After multiple marriages he settled in Checotah, OK to raise his two sons, where he met his wife Sarah Burns. Creating a blended family of 5 children they relocated to Poteau, OK before finally moving to Howe to spend the rest of their lives together.
James loved coaching football and softball at the PARC. He was a Poteau Pirate Band Booster, driving the bus and enjoying the shows. Throughout the years many of his children, friends and loved ones would come through the door saying "Mom, Dad, I'm home". He welcomed these bonus children with open arms. He will be sorely missed.

Norris John Smith
Funeral Service for Norris John Smith will be at 10am on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Faith Baptist in Watson, Oklahoma with Todd Webb, Ed Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Octavia Cemetery in Octavia, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
Norris John Smith of Octavia, Oklahoma, passed away July 3, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born to William J. Smith and Juanita Benton Smith at Idabel Oklahoma on March 14, 1945.
Norris John was a logger by trade. He worked in Colorado for many years, in addition to working in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Norris John Loved the Lord and attended faithfully as long as he was able. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by brothers; Mark Smith and wife Cheryl of Octavia, Oklahoma, Luke Smith of Watson, Oklahoma, Niles Smith of Octavia, Oklahoma; sisters, Winona Rowland and husband Dudley of Mead, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Katy Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

Douglas Dewayne Collins
Doug was born on December 12, 1961 in Santa Paula, California to Gladys (Holloway) Collins and James Charles Collins and passed away on June 16, 2022 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Collins; sisters, Kay Evans, and Mary Murray. Doug was a lifelong and avid OU fan and lover of hunting and fishing. One of Doug's favorite past times was spending time with numerous friends playing pool. Doug was so proud of and loved his daughters, and grandchildren. Sharing pictures and stories about them was a must. He was so proud of each of them.

Bill was born on January 29, 1945 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Alice (Berry) Needham and Charles William Needham and passed away on June 19, 2022 in Pocola, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.W. and Alice Needham; brothers, Charles and Bobby Needham; sons, Marshall Needham and Charley Houck; son in-law, Paul Lofts. Bill was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Where he was a Sunday School teacher for the boys class. He loved to go fishing for crappie. He worked for Southern Steel Wire for 35 years as a manager. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all.
This is from his daughter Sandra. He was a good dad. He welcomed all kids into our home and treated them as his own. He was so loved and respected by so many people. I have heard that my dad had huge effect on their lives! It means so much to me. He introduced me to Jesus. He was a man of few words. I will miss him terribly! But I have much hope and joy that I will get to spend an eternity in paradise with my daddy. But most of all and most importantly with Jesus!

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Thompson; uncles, Chester Thompson, Harlan Armstrong, and Burford Armstrong. Tobey loved hunting with his dogs, spending time fishing and being outdoors. He was the youngest of three boys.

Marlin Hugh "Sonny" Townley
Mr. Townley passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday June 11, 2022 in Teague, Texas.
He was born on February 21, 1943 in Kennette, Missouri to Albert and Zelma Townley. He was one of nine children, one if which was his twin sister Martha sue Townley. He resided in Poteau, Oklahoma for many years. Before moving to Teague, Texas in 2002 and quickly became known as “The Lawn Mower Man”. He could be seen riding around town with his wagon in tow collecting cans to recycle. He removed every tab on every can top, and donated his collections to raise money for dialysis patient treatment. Marlin rode his mower in all parades in Teague before taking residence in Teague nursing home. His mower would be decorated with lights and a wreath at Christmas time and would even wear his Santa hat. The lawnmower man never met a stranger and always had a story to tell or a short tune to sing that he made up. His presence will be dearly missed.
Marlin is survived by his son, Thomas Townley of Peoria, Arizona. Two daughters, Laroi Cover of Gilbert, Arizona, and Sandra Hice of Greenwood, Arkansas. His loving sister Linda Ryan of Fairfield, Texas. And a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends & extended family.
Marlin is preceded in death by both parents, Albert and Zelma Townley. His twin sister, Martha Sue Townely. Sisters, Betty Ray Townley, Shirley JoAnn Armstrong, Brenda Faye Townley. Three brothers, Alonzo Jackson Townley, Albert Junior Townley, and Jerry Dean Townley.

Etta Faye Weaver
Etta was born on August 5, 1940 in Granite, Oklahoma to Etta M. Fletcher (McFarland) and Willie E. Fletcher and passed away on June 12, 2022 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Etta married George W. Weaver on January 5, 1957 in Sayer, Oklahoma. She became a mother to Susan Crowder on February 20, 1958; retired from Oaks Health Care after 24 years; was a member of New Mt. Pleasant Valley Church in Heavener, Oklahoma where she was in charge of the church kitchen pantry. She liked to spend her time camping, only in the summer, fishing, cooking, baking all kinds of sweet deserts, sweets were her favorite. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and family. She never missed The Price Is Right nor The Young and The Restless therefore appointments and outings had to be after her television shows. She had a good and funny side to her. Etta and her twin brother were always up to something when they were growing up and took up for each other, they always knew when the other was ill without getting notification from others. The love they shared for each other was beautiful.

Rickey Crouch
Memorial Service for Rickey Crouch, 68 of Howe, Oklahoma will be at 2pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Monroe First Baptist Church in Monroe, Oklahoma with Pastor Brad Hill officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.
He was born on October 16, 1953 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Kathryn Elaine (Reed) Crouch and James Delbert Crouch and passed away on June 8, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Kathryn Couch. Rickey was born in Poteau, Oklahoma and lived for a few years in Fort Smith, Arkansas and then the family moved to Monroe, Oklahoma, and set up permanent roots. Rickey married Shirley Crouch on Christmas of 1974 and later had two sons, Matthew and Luke. Rickey worked most of his career in construction. He was a member of the Baptist Church and preached for several years. He loved fishing, hunting, and other country boy things. He loved the Lord, his family and enjoyed singing gospel songs. Rickey is now living his best life in Heaven celebrating Jesus and seeing loved ones again.

Janice Wilburta Worley Soudbash
Janice Wilburta Worley Soudbash, 84, of Monument, Colorado, passed from this life to glory on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the daughter of Marvin and Zelma Worley of Poteau, Oklahoma. Born on January 14, 1938, at home on their farm just outside of town. Janice was born a twin, one of two sets of twins, and the only girl amongst her four siblings. Life was hard in those days, and it only grew harder during the war. Janice learned to rely on God from an early age and over the years her faith grew immensely. She became the rock of faith for her family and lived it out serving others, often behind the scenes.
Janice pursued higher education at Oklahoma State University, working hard to put herself through college to become a dietician. She then moved to Houston, Texas to complete her dietetic internship at MD Anderson and began working with the VA Hospital. While in Houston she met the love of her life, Martin Stanley Soudbash, and married on September 2, 1961. They enjoyed a loving relationship that grew stronger by the year, for 58 years. They had three children, a son Steve born in 1963, a daughter Suzanne born in 1966, and another daughter Linda born in 1968.
As the family moved across the United States and then to England, Janice worked in various school positions as a dietician and as a teacher. She loved to teach others how to cook and to bake. She became well known for her roll fondant cake baking and decorating, and her cakes even gained a spot on a 1996 film called “The Evening Star.” Most of all, Janice was a faithful follower of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a keen interest in helping others, women in crisis, single moms, and immigrants. She attended the Church of Christ and participated and led women’s Bible studies wherever she was and assisted with many children’s VBS programs. She loved to sing acapella hymns. Due to her devotion to the Lord, she was always on the go, thinking of others and serving them unconditionally.
Janice is survived by her son, Steve Soudbash, and wife Karen of Excelsior, Minnesota; her daughters, Suzanne Richter, and husband Geoffrey of Boerne, Texas, and Linda Holt, and husband Grant of Colorado Springs, Colorado; along with five grandsons, Caleb Richter, Seth Richter, Cameron Soudbash, Stewart Soudbash and Andrew Soudbash; three granddaughters, London Seward, Micah Richter and Morrigan Holt; a great granddaughter, Millie Richter; her brother Bob Worley of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and twin brother Jerry Worley of Hillsboro, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Steve Worley and Rob Worley, and her husband Martin Soudbash.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 9:00am at the Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma. Burial will be at the Shady Point Cemetery immediately following. A catered lunch is being provided for all members of the family, and friends alike. Family members will be serving as pallbearers.
Memorial donations can be made to Streams in Burkina Faso (Young Scholars Program), a mission in Africa that Janice supported over the last 10 years which has helped more than a hundred orphans gain vital education and life skills to escape poverty. Mary Frances ( Suchala ) Priest
Mary Frances graduated from Edgewood Senior high school in 1977. She was a retired poultry grower for OK foods in Shady Point. An avid music lover and self taught drummer, she played in various bands in the Ashtabula area. She loved the Ohio State buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams. Her greatest passion was her " fur babies " as they were children to her.
She is survived by her sister Diane M Suchala, nephew Joseph Mullins, niece Kelly ( Mullins ) Lunk, great nieces Rachael ( Joe Mullins ) and Kaitlyn Lunk and great nephew Sean Lunk ( Kelly Mullins Lunk ) all of Florida.
She will be joining our Mother in her final resting place @ St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio.

Shane Johnston
If you knew Robert Shane Johnston, then you knew he liked to be called Shane. He was born in West Point, New York. However, he spent his childhood in Texas and Florida. He grew up to become a truck driver just like his dad and took great pride in being one. He loved the freedom of being on the road and being able to see the world. He did this for over 30 years. Some of his other favorite things included riding motorcycles, and jeeping. Shane’s Harley Davidson was called his mistress and he took her everywhere. Shane was a devoted husband, dad, and PawPaw. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandkids. He loved having cookouts, taking camping trips, and going on vacations with his family, working on his projects, and pestering his wife. He always said he was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He could build just about anything and would always be the first to help someone in need. Shane was a good friend to have and always there when you needed him. He was also a prankster and loved to tease. His brother-in-law and him would spend hours planning jeep trips and hanging out. His good friend Randy and him would get on the phone and every time his wife would call and he was convinced she had it bugged. He was dearly loved by his wife Jamie, their six children Michael, Jeff, Ariel, Eric, Dawson, and Dillon, and five grandkids Zayden Presley, Oliver, Keelie (KIKI), Olivia, and Zayne. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. There will never be another Shane Johnston, he was one of a kind and one of the greatest men to walk this earth.
He was preceded in death by; his son Michael Shane Johnston in 2013; grandparents on both sides.

Dora Pickel
Dora Jane (Goldsmith) Pickel left this earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2022. She was born August 13, 1931 in Henryetta, OK to Earl and Juanita Goldsmith. Dora spent her formative years in Henryetta, where she met Lloyd Lee Pickel in high school typing class. The two were married on June 24, 1950. She and Lloyd moved to McAlester, OK where they welcomed three children. In 1968, Lloyd accepted a job opportunity that moved the family to Poteau, OK, and in 1970 they welcomed their fourth. While in Poteau, Dora operated a successful drapery business for over 30 years, out of her home.
As a dedicated follower of Christ, Dora enjoyed sharing her talent as a piano and organist for many churches through her mid-80’s. She was also a proud American-patriot and served at a Poteau voting precinct for more than 30 years. Dora also enjoyed being active in the community delivering Meals on Wheels all over Poteau for many years.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, of 68 years, her sister Betty Reel Jones and brother Earl David Goldsmith.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Rick Summerlin of Tulsa, OK; sons and daughter in-laws, Jim and Cathy Pickel of Springfield, MO, Jon and Carol Pickel of Poteau, OK, and David and JoAnn Pickel of Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Sherry Theobald, Matt Summerlin, Steven Pickel, Leslie Jett, Michael Pickel, Jennifer Bailey, Julie Hayes, Mark Pickel, Morgan Pickel, Shelby Pickel, Carson Pickel, 15 great grandchildren, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Dora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be missed by many.

Bonnie Payne
Born on August 25, 1926, in Knott Hole, Oklahoma, Bonnie resided in Poteau where she raised three children, was a loving wife, and owned Bonnie’s Liquor Store from 1960 until her retirement in 2005.
In a time when it was difficult for women, Bonnie not only ran a successful business, she, inspired family members and others with her caring heart, trail-blazing spirit, and sense of humor.
Bonnie is survived by children Bill Newnam of Poteau and Susan Salmeron of Ypsilanti, MI; 7grandchildren (Shane & Shawn Hughes, Raun Williams, Jason Lee, Kelli Johnson, Mike & Missy Newnam) and 12 great-grandchildren.
In remembrance of Bonnie’s unlimited love, are Tom Payne’s stepdaughter Brenda, her husband Mac McDonald and their daughter Heather Gelvin, of Tulsa.
Bonnie never stopped missing those who passed before her: her husband, Thomas Payne, daughter, Linda Williams, parents, Pearl and Jim Brown and siblings, J.R. Hilton, Sonny Brown, and Inez Knight.

Gage Brown
Gage was born on January 31, 2004 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Jessica Brown and J.R. Brown, and passed away on June 3, 2022 in Wister, Oklahoma. He liked to fish, hunt, and hangout with his friends. He enjoyed driving around with his friends, if his friends had the gas money. Eating off the dollar menu was just how he rolled. Listening to music with his friends at the lake and listening to music with his dad were some of his favorite things to do. Gage loved his family so much! He cherished his time working with Mr. Walden. Gage liked to tell "how big" the fish were he caught, but of course no one ever saw them. LOL
Survivors include his parents, J.R. and Jessica Brown; sister, Haven Brown; brothers, Tylor Word, Country Word; grandparents, Meme, Ellen Jackson, Janie and Eddie Brown, Kathy and Jerry Warren, Karen and Parnell Kelley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other loved ones.
Pallbearers will be all of his Wister friends.

Jerry Nell Colbert
Jerry was born on December 23, 1937 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Syble (Burrows) Conrad and Ted Conrad and passed away on June 1, 2022 in Roland, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Cleatus Colbert.
Survivors include: daughter, Yvonne Newton; daughter in law, Rayen Judge; grandchildren, Adam and Lindsay Colbert, Nathen and Melinda Colbert, Latisha McGowen, Tiffany Iribarne, Josh Iribarne, Brian & Samantha Colbert; great grandchildren, Caden Colbert, Cordell Ramsey, Kelsey Ramsey, Brea and Josh Hamlin, Averie Colbert, and Emmrie Sumpter; brother, Al Conrad, James Conrad, David Conrad,Ted Conrad, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Pallbearers will be Caden, Nathen and Adam Colbert, Josh Hamlin, Cordell Ramsey, and Ty Carpenter.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8pm at Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
