Gerald Billy



  Gerald Thomas Billy, 62, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Dallas, TX.  Gerald was born March 13, 1952 in Poteau, OK to Thomas Coleman & Edna Marie (Borden) Billy.  He was a media coordinator at KFSM/Channel 5 for 32 years.  Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Burden.

Survivors include his daughter, Allison Marie Billy of Muskogee, OK; 2 sons, Andrew Ryan & Crystle Billy, Anthony Jordan Billy of Poteau, OK; 4 grandchildren, Alina, Annika, Erik, and Dean; sisters, Cherry Neal of Cameron, OK, Janevieve & Bob Dameron of Hugo, OK; brothers, LeRoy & Joann Billy, Fayette & Juanita Billy of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. LeRoy Billy officiating.  Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK.

JIMMY ALBERT



  Jimmy Leon Albert, 69, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 in Poteau, OK.  Jimmy was born July 23, 1945 in Poteau, OK to Anthony & Jessie (Midgley) Albert.  He was a plastering subcontractor.  Jimmy loved to deer hunt and he loved those grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Jerry Albert and sister, Sandra McKown.

Survivors include his father, Anthony “Tony” Albert of Poteau, OK; brother, John & Kim Albert of Poteau; 3 sons & their wives, Brent & Denise Albert of Poteau, OK, Brad & Kristi Albert of Ft. Smith, AR, Brock & Amy Albert of Lavaca, AR; 7 grandchildren, Brennen, Austen, Alex, Alexis, Ashleigh, Parker and Conner Albert; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Pallbearers will be Brent, Brad, Brock, Austen, Alex, Brennen, John & John David Albert.

RON FULLEN



  Ronald R. Fullen, 74, of Panama, OK passed away Friday, September 26,2014 in Fort Smith, AR.  Ron was born November 19, 1939 in Summerfield, OK to Dewey Ray & Ruth (Miller) Fullen.  He served in the National Guard.  Ron taught 26 years at Panama Schools.  He loved to trotline and hunt; he raised fighting chickens.  Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fullen July 14, 2013; his parents and brothers, Donald J. (Twin) and Timothy Alexandra Fullen.

Survivors include his daughters Vickie Stout of Arkoma, OK, Teresa & Kevin Stout of Panama, OK; son, Timothy Fullen of Panama, OK; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez of Arkoma, OK, Ashlee & Chris Neems, Megan Fullen of Panama, OK; great grandchildren, Lyric & Jasmine Roberts, Damien Neems;  sisters, Beverly Archey of Poteau, OK, Jo Martin of Greenwood, AR; brothers, Larry Fullen of Pocola, OK, Jack Fullen of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Shady Point, OK with Rev. Rick Kester officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Point Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Shannon Darneal, Ronnie Bell, Chris Neems, Robert Moore.

Mary Ann Gallant



   Mary Ann Gallant, 71, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Poteau, OK.  Mary Ann was born March 9, 1943 in Midwest City, OK.  Mary Ann was a legal secretary for years and was currently the office manager for Rural Water Dist. #14 in Spiro, OK.  She was preceded in death by her  husband, Richard Henry Gallant; her mother, Jane Ellen (Land) Young sister, Linda Underwood.

Survivors include her sons, Eric Gallant of Cookson, OK, Evan & Stephanie Gallant of Poteau, OK; 4 grandchildren;  sisters, Barbara Underwood of Oklahoma City, OK, Saundra Rogers of Del City, OK;  beloved Aunt Ruth & Uncle T. Eubanks; other relatives, loved ones and beloved friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.    Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Barnes, Terry Hale, John Henson, Rickie DeShazo, Glenn Mize, Johnny Roy.

John E. Glenn Jr.



  John Edward Glenn Jr., 78, of  Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in Poteau.  John was born January 27, 1936 in Wister, OK to John E. Sr. & Anna Mae (Howery) Glenn.  He was retired from the US Air Force serving for 20 years.  He spent 6 years as a car salesman and then 12 years as a teacher at Cameron Schools.  He had a Bachelors & Masters Degrees from Northeastern State University.   John raised and trained German Shepherd Dogs and show dogs.  He was the Vice President of the German Shepherd Dog Club of San Antonio, TX.  John loved hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.  He will be buried with full military honors.   John was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bobbie of the home; 3 sons, David Glenn of Van Buren, AR, Darrell & Dana Glenn of Brooklyn, NY, Richard Glenn of Sapulpa, OK; 2 grandsons, John & Steven Glenn; 3 brothers, Warren & Brita Glenn of Colorado Springs, CO, Jim & Gaye Glenn of Van Buren, AR, Thomas Glenn of Talihina, OK; sister, Margaret Vandever of Tulsa, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Phil McGehee, Sgt. Major Jim Glenn, and Bro. Thom Chappelle officiating.  Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Howe, OK.  Pallbearers will be his nephews.   Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Lockhart & Gordon Semour.

Danie Byous

    Aaron Daniel “Danie” Byous, Jr., 67 of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in Fort Smith, AR.  Danie was born January 7, 1947 in Modesto, CA to Aaron Daniel Sr. & Betty (Mitchell) Byous.  He was a lineman and service man for OG&E for 35 years.  Danie was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his father; father in law, Harry Tustin; stepfather, Ben Gedosh.
   Survivors include his wife, Susie of the home; daughters, Misty & Jerry Collins, Lacey & Justin Downs of Poteau, OK; 5 grandchildren, Dani & Dax Collins, Champ, Wrigley & Rooklyn Downs; mother, Betty Gedosh; mother in law, Tess Tustin both of Poteau, OK; stepbrother,  Dr. Jack & JoAnn Gedosh of Ft. Smith, AR; brothers in law, Harry & Robbie Tustin Jr., Larry & Sandy Tustin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

"Bo" John William Metzker



John William “Bo” Metzker, 65, of Heavener, OK passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in Fayetteville, AR.  Bo was born October 2, 1948 in Poteau, OK to John & Oma Lee (Ward) Metzker.   Bo was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army.   He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Margaret Metzker, A.J. & Oma Lee Reynolds; mother in law & father in law, Aaron & Lila Standridge;  sister, Patsy Johnson.



Survivors include his wife, Wilma of the home; children, Sheila Jones of Ft. Levi Easton



Levi L. Easton, 87, of Cameron, OK passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in Fort Smith, AR.  Levi was born March 4, 1927 in Williams, OK to Calvin & Neva (Byrd) Easton.  Levi taught in Cameron Schools for 30 years, also serving as principal. He was a lover of education; proud of all his kids and grandkids and attended their college graduations.  Levi could play every instrument, except the violin.  He loved singing and music of all kinds.    He was a member of the Methodist Church in Cameron.  Levi loved fishing, gardening and story telling.  He lived life as he felt God would have him to.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rev. Junior Easton; granddaughter, Kara Beth Vincent & great grandson, Evan Dale Vincent.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma (Campbell) Easton of the home; daughters, Jan Carmack of Poteau, OK, Rhonda Fox & husband Ronnie of Cameron, OK, Sheila Brown & husband,  Jimmy of Poteau, OK; grandkids,  Kendra & Jeremiah Maxwell, Chad & Sarah Fox, Brooke & Paul Mason, Amy & Kendall Adams, Keith & Janie Vincent, Hannah Brown, Kenzi Brown; great grandkids, Maci Maxwell, Caden & Caston Fox, Joel & Jenna Mason, Kylar, Kase & Kynli Adams, Jerran & Kenbri Vincent,; sister, Christine Williams & husband L.D., Alustine Williams; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Cloyis Clay





Cloyis W. Clay, 84, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 in Poteau.  Cloyis was born September 24, 1929  in Gilmore, OK to Vernon & Beulah (Day) Clay.  He was a veteran of the US Army where was awarded the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge), Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with Bronze  Star, & UN Service Medal.  Cloyis was an educator/principal.  Cloyis loved to hunt.  He was a great gardener, grafting trees.  He was very proud of his grandson who is pursuing a PhD.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother in law, Troy Riddle & niece, Debbie Mudd.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; daughter, Lisa Clay of Poteau, OK; grandson, Devin Griffith of Pittsburg, PA; brothers & sisters in law, C.D. & Billie Clay of Ada, OK, Floyis & Wanda Clay of Gilmore, OK; sister, Sue Riddle of Blanchard, OK; sister in law, Nancy (Coggins) Butler of Poteau, OK; lifelong friend, Curtis Kelly of Hodgen, OK; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones & friends.

Mona L. Crawford, 88, of Pocola, OK passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 in Spiro, OK.  Mona was born September 10, 1926 in Fanshawe, OK to Raymond & Alice (Jones) Armstrong.  She was a teacher at Pocola Elementary until she retired.  Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Crawford; daughter, Glenda Harvell; shared daughter, Heather Crawford; brother, Bill Armstrong.

 Nadjamae Steel, 92, of Oklahoma City, OK (formerly of Poteau, OK) passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Oklahoma City.  Nadjamae was born June 4, 1922 in Vernon, OK to Oscar Elden & Ethel Ann (Nation) Sturgell.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, William “Bill” Ward Miller and William “Bill” A. Steel; 6 siblings, Houston, Dale, Eldon & Richard Sturgell, Ruby Stufflebean and Edna Sturgell. 



Survivors include her son, Roderick Miller of Oklahoma City; daughters, Carrie & Scott Renner of Oklahoma City, Sue Miller of Panama, OK; 11 grandchildren, Rebecca Evans, Jodie Cline, Danielle Chancey, D.J. Jackie Mae Steel



Jackie Mae Steel, 86, of  Wister, OK passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Poteau.  Jackie was born April 5, 1928 in Swink, OK to James & Ruby (Roland) Woolery.  She was retired from Pacific Telephone.  Jackie was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Steel; daughter, Sharon Gutierrez; and siblings, Truman Woolery and Iva Moody.



Survivors include her daughter, Dona Schnaidt of Ft. Virgie Crumb



Virgie Marie Crumb, 78, of Spiro, OK passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Spiro.  Virgie was born June 21, 1936 in Paris, AR to Emmett & Mary (Shirley) Cothran.  She was a homemaker.  Virgie was a member of Southside House of Worship in Spiro; she loved to go to church, play the piano and sing.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Silas Cothran, Helen Belcher and Tommy Cothran.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond of the home; siblings, Sue Stanberry, Minnie Freeman, Doyle, Randy & Mike Cothran, Judy Kay Dial; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Doris Joe Harrison, 94, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014  in Poteau.  Doris was born June 4, 1920  in Waldron, AR to Joe & Sarah Tippet. 

Survivors include 3 daughters, Linda & Leta Harrison of the home; Ava Gates of Ft. Smith, AR; granddaughter, Amber; 2 great grandchildren.

Mary D. Martin, 98, of Wister, OK passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Poteau, OK.  Mary was born January 20, 1916 in Monroe, OK to Marion & Myra Ottie (Collum) Dunn.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, B.C. “Babe” Martin.

Betty Claunts



Betty Jean Claunts, 81, of Cameron, OK passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 in Cameron.  Betty was born November 20, 1932 in Wolf Knob (Cameron), OK to Jim Sam & Easter Mary (Thompson) Walls.  She was a homemaker. Betty was a member  and secretary at Cameron Gospel Lighthouse since 1961.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Rex Leon McDonald & Cecil Claunts; sister, Mattie Marshall and brothers, Sydney Walls and J.C. Walls.



She is survived by 6 daughters & spouses, Phyllis Jean & Larry Brown of Cameron, OK, Donna Sue & Allen Bailey of Hackett, AR, Rose Mary McDonald of Greenwood, AR, Carolyn Ann & Jack Niblett, Marilyn Nan & Don Jiles, Jo Ann & Danny Green all of Cameron, OK; sons, Rex Leon McDonald and Gary Wayne McDonald of Cameron, OK 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Aline Cody of Cameron, OK, Wanda Weaver of Broken Arrow, OK; brother, Homer Walls of Poteau, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; a host of beloved friends.

Florence Mozelle Plummer, 89, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, September 08, 2014 in Poteau.  Mozelle was born November 29, 1924 in Memphis, TX to O.W. “Boots” & Lois (White) Wise.  She was owner/operator of Buster’s Buffet.  Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. “Buster” Plummer and sister, Madge Robison.

Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Linda & Don Pugh of Houston, TX; sons & daughters in law, Everett & Illene Plummer, Paul & Gloria Plummer of Poteau, OK; brothers, Joe & Annette Wise, Don & Connie Wise, Kenny  & Mary Wise of Poteau; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Lou Eidschun and Ann LaFevers of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

William Floyd “Bill” Taylor, 65, of Poteau, OK left this life Thursday, September 04, 2014 in Poteau.  Bill was born April 21, 1949 in Poteau, OK to Delbert Floyd & Norma Louise (Thompson) Taylor.  He was retired from the US Navy and  served his country with pride and honor for 26 years.  Bill loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting & being with his grandchildren and the children he was so proud of.    Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister,  Sunny Ineeta; nephew, David Taylor, granddaughter, Hope Rae Ellis.



He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Pam of the home;  his son & daughter in law, Staff Sgt. William L. & Michelle Taylor of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters & son in law, Brandie & Matt Bennett of Sallisaw, OK, Amy Taylor of Tahlequah, OK; 4 grandchildren, Kyla & Haley Taylor of Colorado Springs, Bralie Rust & Ty Bennett of Sallisaw; one brother & sister in law, Wayne “Tuffy” & Dede Taylor of McAlester, OK; five sisters & brothers in law, Suzanne & Leo Ritter of Poteau, OK, Kay Ollar of Mena, AR, Vicki Wilson of Howe, OK, Jan & Billy Clark of Spiro, OK, Gean Taylor of Panama, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many friends.



Services will be 11 am, Monday, September 8, 2014 in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Gary Furr, Danny Blaylock, Rex Blaylock, Matt Bennett, Jimmy DeLap.



The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Raymond Hopkins



Raymond Lyle Hopkins, 64, of Spiro, OK passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Spiro.  Raymond was born January 15, 1950 in Poteau, OK to William Frank & Virginia Mae (Faulkenberry) Hopkins.  He was a carpenter.  Raymond was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Edward Ray Underwood.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Leiper of Spiro, OK; brother & sister in law, Frankie & Pamela Hopkins of Dallas, TX; sister, Margie Mitchell of Pocola, OK; nieces & nephews, William, Faith & Beth Hopkins, Jessica & William Mitchell; great niece, Rowan Mitchell; other relatives & loved ones, many friends.

Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. C.L. Thomas & Rev. Larry Stacy officiating.  Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Howe, OK

The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Hazel Opal Hetherington



Hazel Opal Hetherington, 99, of Poteau, OK (formerly of Panama, OK passed away Tuesday, September 02, 2014 in Sallisaw, OK.  Hazel was born October 29, 1914 in LeFlore, OK to George Thomas & Artie (Turner) Walden.  She was a teacher for 43 years.  She was a graduate of LeFlore High School; received a B.S. from Southeastern State University and a MA from Northeastern State University.    She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa, National Honorary Teacher’s Sorority.  She was active in her professional organization.  She was twice president of LeFlore County Teachers; chosen LeFlore County Teacher of the Year in 1978; was a delegate to the NEA Delegate Assembly; served many times as a delegate to the OEA Delegate Assembly.  Hazel was a Sunday School teacher in the Primary and Junior Dept. of the First Baptist Church in Panama for many years.  She moved to Poteau in 1986 and was a faithful, active member of First Baptist Church in Poteau, OK, serving on various committees.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings and husband, Thomas Hetherington.

Survivors include her son & daughter in law, Jerry  & Georgia Hetherington of Sallisaw, OK; grandson, Jarret & wife Terri Hetherington; great grandchildren, Taren & Seth; many special nieces & nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Friday, September 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church,  Poteau with Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK.  Pallbearers will be Max Rowley, Dexter Haskins, Sam Walden, Steve Walden, Gary Walden, Seth Morgan, & Ed Abernathy.
