Burell Shipman


 

Burell Lee Shipman, 88, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Tulsa, OK.  Burell was born October 11, 1932 in Summerfield, OK to John & Maude (Hall) Shipman.  He was a mechanic, a greyhound bus driver and served as a deputy sheriff.  Burell was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served as a nurse.  Burell loved to fish, read western books, travel and camp.  He was a Mason.  He grew up on a farm during the Depression and knew ‘the value of a dollar’,  His favorite scripture was John 3:16.  He could be described as a “Jack of All Trades & Master of None”.  He has been described as a strict father but “his bark was worse than his bite”. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Billye & Mary Jean; brother, M.K. & wife Bits.

 Survivors include his wife, Sandra Brown-Shipman; his daughters, Darla & Dana; sons, David &wife Gail, Chad & wife Tanis; grandchildren, Kristi, Jennifer, KayAnn, Matt Candace, Darce, Wesley, Lance & Chris; several great grandchildren; nieces, Pam, Debbie, Wanda; nephews, Ralph, Gerald, Lindsey, Paul & Chuck; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Summerfield Cemetery Pavilion with Jim Cook officiating.  Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Landy Ted Carpenter


Landy Ted Carpenter, 86, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in Poteau.  Ted was born April 5, 1935 in Wister, OK to Ralph & Josephine (Dodd) Carpenter.  He was a carpenter and built furniture.  He was a hard worker who loved his family.  He loved his church “Bennington” and loved his Lord and Savior. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard & Rudolph; sisters, Eaulene & Eunice; sons, Landy & Kevin; grandson, Kasey Carpenter.

 Survivors include his wife, Matilda; daughters, Sarah Gregory & husband Quentin, Maria Carpenter & Micheal Beebe, Cathi Carpenter, Sheila Brown and Shelley Brown; sons, Michael Carpenter, Jeremiah Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Steve Brown, Pastor Hernandez; grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Camila  & Valeria Hernandez, Kayllynn Carpenter, Beto, Braxton, Maddox, Mason & Hudson Johnson, Dakota, Kolbie, Brixlee, Sofia & Ryland Gregory, Lane Price; other grandchildren he loved; great grandchildren, Carter & Emma Johnson; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Bennington Church.  Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.   Pallbearers will be Quentin Gregory, Beto Johnson, Pastor Hernandez, Dakota Maxwell, Michael Beebe, Ricky Stokes, Brandon Flanagan.   Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Curtis Ray Seyler


Curtis Ray Seyler, 58, of Fanshawe, OK passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Curtis was born May 31, 1963 in Poteau, OK to Omer & Kathryn (Carney) Seyler.  He was a truck driver. Curtis loved the mountains but Colorado was his favorite.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting.   He enjoyed spending time with his brother, kids and grandkids.  His family was his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents & a brother, Robert.

Survivors include his daughter Stephanie Brand & husband Collin; sons, Dillan Seyler & Stephanie, Travis Seyler; brother, Tracy Seyler; grandchildren, Karson, Champ, Abigayle, Kylynn and Lilyan; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 11 am, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister with Charlie Scott officiating.   Visitation will  be 6-8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
