Patricia Harris


Patricia Marie Harris, 57, of Howe, OK passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Pat was born October 8, 1961 to Earl & Ruby (Coggins) Davidson.  She was an EMT & a homemaker.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda Bentley & Virginia Miller; brother, Gary Davidson.

          Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Tom Harris; daughters, Suambera Lloyd & Lauren Harris; son, Nick & Jessica Lloyd; 16 Grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Mike, Johnny & Joe Davidson ; sisters, Kathy Rainwater, Betty Steelman, Helen Morgan & Grova  Pendegraff; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 10 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jim Autrey & Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK.  Pallbearers will be Josh Carter, Brian Shadwick, Jerry Davidson, Dalton Thompson.  Honorary pallbearers will  be Ryan Lloyd & Alston Lloyd, Mason Francis, Skylar Jefferson & Dalton Francis.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Ty Matheny


Tyrell “Ty” Demetrius Matheny, 24, of Poteau, OK passed away October 24, 2018 in Spiro, OK.  Ty was born July 2, 1994 in Norfolk, VA. 

Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie Francis; parents, Ameera Matheny & Carlos Quinones Rivas; brother, Carlos Quinones-Matheny; sister, Anna Quinones-Matheny; God Mother, Andrea Castleberry; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Carlos Quinones-Rivas, Leo Obando, Wilson Obando, James Francis, Raymond Plant, Rodney Derryberry.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Sharon Wasson McMillan


      Sharon was born to Wilbur (Joe) and Carol Parks on August 7, 1940 in Phoenix, AZ.  She graduated from Phoenix College as valedictorian then went on to a short career as a stewardess with American Airlines in Dallas, TX.  While living in Dallas, she met and married J. Robert (Bob) Wasson.  She and Bob moved to Odessa, TX and owned and operated Eidson-Wasson Realtors with Bob’s grandfather.  They moved to Poteau, OK in 1975 and started Wasson Ranches – raising Santa Gertrudis cattle.  In 1987, Sharon formed P.E.O. Chapter GD in Poteau.  She held several state committee chair positions and was a state officer for two years.  She served as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Poteau and also taught Sunday school.  Sharon served as moderator and secretary for Presbyterian Women.  She was the secretary for the Poteau Area Arts and Humanities Council and a member of Episilon Zeta sorority.  After the death of Bob, Sharon met and married Charles (Chuck) McMillan.  They spent their years together traveling and living part-time in Mexico.  Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, her husband, Chuck and her in-laws, J.A. (Bob) and Leta Wasson.  
    She is survived by her daughter Diana Sowder (husband Pat) of Broken Arrow, OK and their sons Sean and Christopher, her daughter Susanne Wasson of Carmel IN, her son Robert Wasson (wife Tabrina) of Arkoma, OK and his sons Brick and Blake and her sister Beverly Edmundson.

Wilma Lee


           Wilma N. Costner Ervin Lee, age 91, of Poteau, was born July 10, 1927 in Panama, Ok to Elbert L. and Jewel Costner. She passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Mercy
Hospice Center in Fort Smith, Ar.
          Wilma was a retired educator and social worker. She obtained her Bachelor of Education, following in the footsteps of her parents, from the University of Oklahoma at Norman. She
taught English, as well as other subjects, at several schools throughout Oklahoma before
moving to California, where she became a social worker for the County of Orange. She retired from social work in 1988 and returned to Oklahoma. After retirement, she became employed by the state of Oklahoma as a part-time teacher with the POWER 1 program teaching English and life skills from 1997-2015.
         Wilma was a member of First Baptist Church of Poteau where she taught Sunday School classes for many years. She was a member of Poteau Alumni Association, Women's League, LeFlore County Historical Society, and LeFlore County Democratic Party.
She is survived by her son, Jim E. Ervin and wife Judy of Poteau, granddaughters Susan Ice and husband Bill of Wylie, TX, Shelley Grier and husband Ken of Mission Viejo, CA, Kathryn Morehouse and husband Jeff of Las Flores, CA, Nicole Yelverton and husband R.J. Of Siloam Springs, AR, and brother, Clay Costner of Whittier, CA. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, step-daughters, Susan and Becky, and Sister-in-law, Noma Curtis and husband Charles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
         She is preceded in death by her second husband, James Lee, first husband, Jim D. Ervin, father of son, Jim E. Ervin, her parents, Elbert L. and Jewel Costner, sisters, Wanda Gammell and Winona Selkirk and husband Larry, as well as step-son, James Lee II and sister-in-law, Ramona Mitchell.
          Her family and friends will remember her love of OU Football, her gentle and kind-hearted words, her ability to see the beauty in all things, love of nature, and desire to always put others’ needs before her own.
Please join her family for a visitation at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, on Thursday, November 1st from 6:00-8:00 pm to share memories and love of Wilma. Services to be determined at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers you consider a donation to the LeFlore County Museum in memory of Wilma.

Louis Ragon Miller Jr.


 Louis Ragon Miller Jr., 80, of Tulsa, OK passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in Tulsa.  Louis was born June 13, 1938 in Poteau, OK to Louis Ragon Sr. & Marguerite Francile (Carter) Miller.  He was a school administrator.  Louis was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He was preceded in death by his parents & brother Dick Miller.

          Survivors include his wife, Judy; daughter & son in law, Lisa & Derek Newman; granddaughter, Lily Newman; 3 nephews, Stan, Kevin & Brent Miller; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 10 am, Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Cook  officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. 

          The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
