PHIL SMITH


 Phil Stanley Smith of Pocola, Oklahoma passed away May 30, 2021, in Pocola, Oklahoma at the age of  69.  Phil was born on September 25, 1951 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Josh and Edna Martha (Gregory) Smith.  Survivors include his wife, Terry (Boyd) Smith; four children, Phillip Jason Smith, Amber Lea Wertz and husband Bradley, Brandi Nichole Brogan and husband Jody; and Dallas Clinton Smith and wife Michelle; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Lee Smith, Jayleigh Raye Smith, Weston Charles Wertz, Autumn Lea Wertz, Emalyn Rose Wertz, Bryson Bradley Wertz, Branson David Brogan, Maggie Nichole Brogan, Gracelynn Marie Edwards, Nolan Wilder Smith, and Sutton James Smith; one brother, Greg Smith, as well as other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Josh and Edna Smith and his daughter in law, Shonda Smith.  Phil served on the Pocola City Council for 20 years, was a member of the Pocola First United Methodist Church, and loved to work and fish.  

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 am  on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Evans and Miller Memorial Chapel in Pocola with burial to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.  Viewing hours will be Wednesday 9am-8pm with the family visiting with friends from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Joshua Smith, Dallas Smith, Jody Brogan, Joshua Woolly, and Justace Woolly.

Gerald "Jerry" James

Gerald “Jerry” Leslie James, 62, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away May 27, 2021 in OKC. Gerald was born June 29, 1958 in Lone Pine, CA to Leslie Roy & Geraldine (Harris) James.  He was a counselor at Oklahoma Dept. of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services.  He enjoyed singing & picking on everybody.  He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a veteran of the US Marines.  Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Geraldine “Jo” James; and sister, Regina Gayle James.

 

Survivors include his two sisters, Marcia James & Jayson Dailey, Dodie Bowers & husband Dennis; brother Garry James & wife Shelly; nieces,  Carmen Futch,  Raeanna “Baby Rae” & Robert “Boo” Shoat, Leona & Dustin Ward, Leslie & Daniel Clark, Valerie James & Dustin Gomez, Vanessa James & Ray Eidinger; nephews, Frank Johnson, Anthony James & Zachary James; numerous great nieces and nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 

Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Pastor Bill Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow at Reichert Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Clark, Brad Montgomery,  Jayson Dailey, Frank Johnson, Braeden Johnson and Tre’von Shoat.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kieth James, Kris Redbird and Jeremy Scott.        The service will be livestreamed on Marcia James Facebook for those unable to attend.

Rozetta Childers

Rozetta Childers, 79, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Little Rock, AR.  Rozetta was born January 22, 1942 in Zafra, OK to Jess & Pearlie (Osborn) Charlton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Charlton; sister, Silva Coffey; and husband, Bill Childers.

Survivors include her daughter, Amanda DeGiusti; sons, James Cunningham, John Childers, and William Childers; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, John Charlton & Tom Charlton; sisters, Ruby Hammonds & Fran Rounsavall; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Graveside services will be 10 am, Tuesday, June 1, 2021  at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK.  Pallbearers will be James Childers, Michael DeGiusti, Robert Childers, Mason DeGiusti, Dakota Lowery, Brent Todd.  The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

    There will be a dinner following the service at the Cameron Community Center.

Lonnie McRay

            Lonnie Charles McRay, Sr.,64, of Panama, OK passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Lonnie was born February 11, 1957 in Poteau, OK to Jesse Charles & Reba Lucille (DeWitt) McRay.  He was retired from the US Air Force after 22 years.  He taught at the Vo-Tech and also Jim Hamilton Correctional facility.  Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Jesse McRay; sister, Gail Anderson and daughter, Melanie McRay.

 Survivors include his mother, Reba Dees; children, Lonnie & Julie McRay Jr. of Queensland, Australia and Ivan McRay of Wister, OK; 6 grandchildren, Sydney Fout, Lachlan McRay, Breonna Ford, Karlie McRay, Connor McRay and Charles McRay; brother, Gerald McRay & Lisa; the mother of his children, Kathy Lomon King; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 10 am, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Devon Minor officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Panama.  Viewing will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm..
