CLIFTON WANN

         

Clifton Aubrey Wann, 89, of Monroe, OK passed away Monday, March 29, 2021  in Ft. Smith, AR.  Clifton was born March 28, 1932 in Pocohontas, OK to Aubrey & Amy (Ladd) Wann.  He was a well-respected tractor and farm equipment mechanic in the area. He operated a family farm and a hay operation in Monroe for many decades. Clifton served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of  Monroe.

 

Clifton is best remembered by family and friends as a quiet, unassuming man. He was a loving father and grandfather. He set an example of how to be a loving husband and family man; by being compassionate and caring in all situations of life.

 

Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; his parents; mother & father in law, George & Jessie Wilson; daughter, Katy Corn & husband Ray; grandsons, Danny Barto & Jerod Wilson; great grandchildren, Evan Vincent & Bretlynn Ford; sister, Nona Mode  & Bill Mode; brothers in law, Will & Mena Wilson, Isaac & Ellen Wilson, Bob Wilson and Gerald Wilson, Ted Robinson; sisters in law, Suzanne Wann & Pat Wann.

 

Survivors include his children, Wade & Debbie Wann, Melba & J.D. Ford, Kathy & Jerry Davidson, Jessie & Eugene Tucker, Joyce & Bobby Denton, Eugene & RayAnn Wann; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Natha Dean Robinson; brothers, Johnny Wann, Bobby & Dorothy Wann, Lonnie & Susie Wann; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 

Services will be 2 pm, Friday, April 2, 2021 at Sugarloaf Christian Fellowship, Monroe, OK with Larry Stacy officiating.  Interment will follow at Monroe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Justin Wann, Steven Herring, Jason Tucker, Kenneth Corn, L.C. Brown, Jacob Tucker, Brant Denton, Tyler Wann & Jeter Denton.  Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons:  Keith Vincent, Jason Pryor, Tyler Werner, Tray Werner, Blake Werner, Conner Place, Dylan Tucker, Eric Tucker, Seth Tucker, Jerran Vincent, Lance Couch, Steven Couch, Noah Ward & Kendon Tucker.

 

The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

John Roy Hetherington

 


John Roy Hetherington, 91 of Cameron, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 in Rogers, Arkansas.  He was born on February 23, 1930 in Poteau, Oklahoma to John and Sue (Quinn) Hetherington.  John grew up in the Panama/Buck Creek area and graduated from Panama High School. He was active in both the Navy and the Air Force having served in The Korean War. John received his Bachelor's Degree in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and received his Master's Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

 John was a teacher and a coach for greater than 50 years. He had a servant heart for teaching his students and loved coaching football. John was willing to help "his kids" after school and stayed in touch with many throughout the years having taught school in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Alaska and Arkansas.  John was a pilot as well as enjoyed tinkering around his farm with is cows and horses. He was a loving father and cared deeply for his family who enjoyed singing, talking and attending church. Everyone who knew him loved his magic tricks and we are sure no child he encountered went without seeing his bouncing ball and brown paper sack trick. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, and remaining sister Pat Butler.

 John was preceded in death by his wife Derotha who passed away November 11, 2020. He was also preceded in death by a son John R. Hetherington Jr. and Joe Bullard.  Survivors include a daughter Dottie Murphy (Brian) of Diamond, Mo., sons Lane (Penny) of Panama, Darrell of Shady Point, Doug of North Vernon, Ind., Michael (Bernice) of Fairbanks, Alaska, Johnny of Diamond and Jared (fiancĂ©e Lauren) of Cameron as well as bonus children Bill (Ann) Russell, Chubb Russell, Sherri (Wally) Williams and multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Cameron or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.

Harold Holderfield

 


Funeral Services for Harold Holderfield, 90 of Fanshawe, Oklahoma will be at 2:00pm on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Fanshawe Cemetery in Fanshawe, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.

 

He was born on May 1, 1930 in Fanshawe, Oklahoma to Pearl (Newby) Holderfield and Edgar Holderfield and passed away on March 25, 2021 in McAlester, Oklahoma.  Harold was preceded in death by his parents, numerous brothers, and daughter, Deana Carleton. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

 

Survivors include his two grandchildren, Cassidy Phelps and husband Allen, John Carleton and wife Jennifer, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Billy Shropshire

 


Billy Shropshire, 63, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at Summerfield, Oklahoma.  Billy was born November 7, 1957 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Leonard and Geneva (Dison) Shropshire.

 

Survivors include wife, Lori (Aud) Shropshire of the home; daughters, Misty Burt and Bryan of Hennessey, OK, Lori Cooper and Chris of Clarksville, TN, and Destiny Rolen and Ashley of  Ft. Smith, AR; sons, Billy Shropshire, Jr. and Martha of Sapulpa, OK, and Blake Shropshire of Summerfield, OK; brothers Melvin Shropshire and Mary of Midland, TX and Gary Harris and Angie of Kingston, OK; sister, Michelle Ellison of TX.; grandkids, Aschton Shropshire, Taelor Shropshire, Colton Cleere, Randee K. McPherson, Tyler Cooper, Brittany Cooper, Mackenzie Cooper, Austin Shropshire, Ruth Shropshire, and Kori Shropshire; great grandkids, Ryker Shropshire,Weston Shropshire, Ozzella Mae Ford, and one on the way.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

 

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Geneva Shropshire; his daughter, Taylor Rolen; sisters, Deborah K. Hopkins, Mary Turnage, Kathy Shropshire; and brother Brandon Ellison.  

 

Funeral services will be held 2pm Monday, March 29, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Tracey Loyd officiating.   Burial will follow in the Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers will be Tommy Shropshire, Melvin Shropshire, Austin Shropshire, Colton Cleere, Aschton Shropshire, Gary Harris, and Blake Shropshire .  Honorary pallbearers will be Ruth Shropshire, Kori Shropshire, Taelor Shropshire, Randee McPherson, Tyler Cooper, Mackenzie Cooper, Brittany Cooper, Destiny Rolen, and Ashley Rolen.

Shirley Young

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Shirley June Young. Shirley passed on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 75 years with her family by her side.

          She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vickie Lane,  Jerry Jacobs and wife Jennifer, Alan Lane, Tammy Seyler and husband Randall, and Rick Dupire and wife Josie; special niece Raelee Rodgers whom she loved like a daughter; grandchildren, April Merritt, Conor Jacobs, Stephany Reavis, Austin Stephens, and Alena, Hector & Jojo Dupire; great grandchildren Montana & Remington Skelton, Emery Workman, Trevor, Landon & Rowdy Reavis. 

          Shirley will also be dearly missed by sisters Barbara Dunn and Connie Keith of Spiro, OK, brothers Eddie Metzker of Arkoma, OK, Mike Metzker of Checotah, OK, Daniel Metzker of Coffeeyville, KS and many nieces and nephews. 

          She was predeceased by her parents John Metzker & OmaLee Reynolds (Ward), her brother John “Bo” Metzker, sisters Karol Traw and Patsy Johnson.

          Shirley was a kind soul that loved to serve and care for others. She had a passion for nursing and well-loved by her patients. She graduated from Kiamichi Vo-Tech and retired after 48 years of nursing. 

           Shirley enjoyed volunteering in her community throughout the years with organizations such as Special Olympics, Sebastian County Historical Society Re-enactments, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. 

          Most of all Shirley loved her family and always opened her door to those in need. She enjoyed helping others and her motto was that she would never turn anyone away from her table.

Mildred Ferguson

Funeral Service for Mildred Ferguson, 103 of Pine Bluff, Arkansas will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Poteau, Oklahoma with Reverend Phil McGehee officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.

 She was born on January 22, 1918 in Ashdown, Arkansas to Levada (Waddell) Bass and William Bass and passed away on March 18, 2021 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  

 Survivors include her great niece, Tracey Powell and husband Joe; great nephews, Todd Goodson, Robert Brown; great great niece, Madison Dempsey, great great nephew Jay Dempsey, numerous other nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

    Christine Williams services will be 2 pm, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Methodist Church, Cameron, OK with Dan Reid officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron.

 

          Christine was born  April 19, 1933 in Cameron, OK to Calvin & Neva (Byrd) Easton.  She passed away March 24, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  She was a loving wife of L.D. Williams; she enjoyed reading, watching game shows and spending time with her family.  She was a member of Cameron Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Alustine & husband Bud Williams; brothers & sister in law, Levi & Wilma Easton; Jr. Easton; grandsons, Skylar Wallis, Jamie & Jason Fox.

          Survivors include her husband of 69 years, L.D. Williams; daughters Norma Whittaker & husband Keith, Sherri Williams; grandchildren, Michelle Covert,  Michael Fox, Kyle James, Devin James, Jarod Sole & Hunter Sole;  Andrea Lopez, Britain Cowens, Dakota Cowens, Peyton Herrington, Gavin Fox, Landon Fox, Remington Fox,  Waylon James, Carleigh James, Alexis James, Ava James, Dean James & Salem James; other relatives, loved ones, & friends.
