Michael Dewayne Akins


Michael Dewayne Akins,  48, of Hewitt, TX passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Waco, TX.  Michael was born September 9, 1971 in Alexandria, LA to Larry & Pamela (Sanford) Akins.  He worked as a sales representative and in customer service. Michael was preceded in death by his father in law, Douglas O. Paschal of Hindsville, AR; grandfather, Lawrence Sanford Jr. of Ada, OK: grandmother, Bobba Mae Sanford of Poteau, OK; brother in law, Jack Scott Jr. of Poteau, OK.



Survivors include  his wife, Rebecca (Paschal) of the home; twin sons,  Matthew & Michael Akins of Hewitt, TX; his father, Larry Akins of Allen, OK; mother, Pamela Lamb of Waco, TX; sister, Amanda Scott of Shady Point, OK;  nephews, Ryan & Drew Scott; brother, Matthew Lamb & wife Charli Lamb of Poteau, OK; nephews, Braxton & Dawson Lamb; brother in law, Douglas Paschal of Hindsville, AR; niece, Nikki Bohannon of Hindsville, AR; nephew, Zachary Paschal of Ft. Smith, AR; brother in law, Jacky Paschal & wife Cynthia of Hindsville, AR; niece, Jacquelyn Paschal; 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews; a host of extended family and friends.



Memorial Services will be 2 pm, Friday, March 6, 2020 at Calhoun Baptist Church, Calhoun, OK with Steve Hughes officiating.

Sandra Hall


Sandra Ann Hall, 75, of Poteau, went to be with Jesus February 24, 2020.  Sandra was born October 3, 1945 to Roy Chester “R.C.” & Virgie Pickett Johnson  in Plain Dealing, LA.  She was a homemaker & loved to cook, garden and craft.
          She is survived by two sisters, Irma Teutsch, Bossier City, LA & Nettie Schreiner, Fargo, ND; brother, Joseph & wife Bonnie Johnson, Springhill, LA; two sons, Jay & wife Cheryl Willis, Nashville, TN, John Hall, Ft. Smith, AR; two daughters, Kim & husband Jerry McConnell, Poteau, Sara Melson, Cameron, OK; seven grandchildren, Jessica & husband Rob Bolin, Suttons Bay, MI, Jamie Willis & Jordan Willis of Chattanooga, TN, Kylie & husband Eric Mobiglia, Virginia Beach, VA, Tyler Massey, Ft. Smith, AR, Brooke & Makayla Melson, Cameron,OK; four great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and loved ones.
          She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Anthony Hall; brothers, Cartis Johnson, Carlton Johnson & Eugene Johnson.
          A private memorial service in celebration of her life with be held March 7.

Lyen E. Thompson



      Lyen Edward Thompson, 81, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Lyen was born July 19, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK to Kramer & Evelyn Thompson.  He was a retired carpenter.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marty and Barbara

          Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; children, Mikelyen, Evelyn, Robin, Alice, Cindy, Dawn, Rhonda,  Christina, Gary, Jaxon, Angelia & James; many grand and great grandchildren; brothers, Richard & Bobby; sisters, Joyce, Karen, Stellia & Patty; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 2, 2020 graveside at Valley View Cemetery, near Midland, AR.  Pallbearers will be friends & family.

Lois Oliver


Lois I. Oliver, 82, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Poteau.  Lois was born February 20, 1938 in Clarksville, AR to Dillion & Alma Barnette.  She was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond & Donald Frost; brothers, James, John and Leon; sisters, Joyce Levord & Sadie Barnette.

Survivors include her husband, William Oliver; daughters, Jewel Frost, Betty Frost & Shirley Crocker; sons, Bobby Frost & Jimmy Stanford; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 am, Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Howe Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the funeral home.

Steve Worley


        Steve Worley, 96, of Eagletown, OK passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his home.  Steve was born August 30, 1923 in Poteau, OK to Marvin & Zelma (Doshier) Worley.   Steve was a very brilliant, educated man.  He owned and operated Worley Chemical Engineering Co. all over the world; he served in the US Army during WWII.  Steve was a dedicated husband, dad and grandad.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy; brother, Rob Worley; and stepdaughter, Ann Lawler. 

          Survivors include his wife, Gloe “Dob” Worley of the home; daughters & spouse

Mary Elizabeth Teet of Oklahoma City, OK, Kim Drake of Caney, OK, Ginger & Glen Savoie of Houston, TX; stepdaughters & spouses, Donna & Bob Fikes of Texas, Jan & Jim Cook of Poteau, OK, Brenda & Kelsey Keeney of Nashville, AR, Pam Bradshaw of Poteau, OK, Vicki & Mike Gamble of Idabel, OK; step son, Rick Worley of  Idabel, OK; brothers & spouses, Bob & Mary Worley of Ft. Smith, AR, Jerry & Carolyn Worley of TX; sister & spouse, Janice & Martin Soudbach of Colorado Springs, CO; 6 grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Thursday February 27, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
