ED WALKER



Edward C. Walker, 90,  of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, April 26, 2019.  Ed was born May 16, 1928 in Corning, AR to Ellis E. & Christine (Freeman) Walker.  He had 4 brothers & 2 sisters.  He was married to Bessie Naomi Walker, Lorene Walker.  He had a great life starting out as a farmer, school custodian, bus driver, taxi business in Poteau (A & B Cab) and minister.  Besides being a husband and father he was also “Pappy” to many.  He lived a blessed life for almost 91 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Bessie & Lorene; and three sons, Rodger Dale, Ruben Eugene & Jerry Dale Walker.  Ed had 16 children.

          Survivors include his wife, Gracie Marie Walker; children, Carolyn Christine Fowler of Florida,  Belva Joyce Walker of AR, Anthony & Diane Walker of MO, Bobby Walker of  AR, Cheryl Ann Walker of OK, (Danny) Nathan & Dianne Walker of AR, Elaine & Walter Douthat of MO, Janie & Terry Holloway, Betty & James Yarbrough, Joyce Couch, Doris  & Keith Morris, Freddie Ford & Eddie Ray Ford all of OK; numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great grandchildren. 

          Services will be 10 am, Monday, April 29, 2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Harold Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow at Glendale/Mt. View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Walker, Eddie Ford, Otis Gilmore & Terry Lee Holloway, Rick Welch.  The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm to visit with family and friends.

Brandon Lee Evans


Brandon Lee Evans, 47, of Hodgen, OK passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Fayetteville, AR.  Brandon was born June 9, 1971 in Poteau, OK to John & Carolyn (Benson) Evans.  He was a veteran  of the US Army where he received the following medals: Iraq Campaign Medal, two Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, USMC  Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
Brandon was a member of the LeFlore County Bass Club.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer.  He was preceded in death by father; grandparents, Brandon & Della Evans, Delmer & Altie Benson.

          Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Evans; sister, Erika & Rodney Evans; nieces, Brooke & Johnathon Burgess, Ashton Evans; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 10 am, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Joe Bottoms officiating.  Interment will be at noon at Ft Smith National Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his very loved Brothers in Arms.   Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Adams, Billy Terry, Sonny Brown. 

          The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with friends and family.

Buddy Lee Wallis


Buddy Lee Wallis, 92, of Pocola, OK passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Pocola.  Buddy was born  November 20, 1926 in Liberty Hill, OK to Erlbey &Mary Ella (Duboise) Wallis.  Buddy held several jobs before becoming owner of Wallis Auto Electric until he retired.  He always liked to joke and have a great time.  Buddy never met a stranger.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dusty Wallis; great grandson, Skylar Wallis; and sister, Magdeline Lovett.

          Survivors include his wife of 51 years, LaFaye (Richison) ; children, Johnny, Donny, Dennis & wife Brenda, Robin & wife Ruth & Tena Wallis; 17 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; several nieces,  nephews, his two mules, Ike & Mike; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 1 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, OK.  Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron.  Pallbearers will be Rodney, Richard, Greg, Bear, & Buddy Ray Wallis,  Bryan Larson.  Honorary pallbearer will be Dakota Francis.  Thank you for the wonderful care from:  Heart of Hospice, Advantage Hospice, Darlene & the rest of the staff at Pocola Nursing & Rehab Center.

          The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Monday from 6-8 pm to visit with family and friends.

Loyd Ford



Loyd L. Ford, 89,  Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019  in North Little Rock, AR.   Loyd was born February 25, 1930 in Wister, OK to Roy & Anna (Green) Ford.  He was a painting contractor for over 35 years.   Loyd was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna (1998); siblings, Eual & Ernest “Red” Ford, Odie, Hershel, James  & Clarence “Doc” Slone.
          Survivors include his children, Michael & Sue Ford of Poteau, OK, Sharon Strode & Mike Heflin of Poteau, Janet & Alan Owens of Hot Springs, AR, Karen Fortner of Little Rock, AR , Gary Fortner of Heavener, OK; grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Candice, Demi, Elijah, Brian, Zachary & Lexy; numerous great grandchildren; sister,  Shirley Coffey of Red Oak, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 1pm, Friday, April 19, 2019 at Church of God Seventh Day in Wister, OK with Elder Chip Hinds officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Chris, Cameron & Christian Duncan, Zak & Gary Fortner, Alan & Elijah Owens, Seth Sam.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Ford & Chuck Ferguson.  The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with family and friends.
