Dora Jane (Goldsmith) Pickel left this earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2022. She was born August 13, 1931 in Henryetta, OK to Earl and Juanita Goldsmith. Dora spent her formative years in Henryetta, where she met Lloyd Lee Pickel in high school typing class. The two were married on June 24, 1950. She and Lloyd moved to McAlester, OK where they welcomed three children. In 1968, Lloyd accepted a job opportunity that moved the family to Poteau, OK, and in 1970 they welcomed their fourth. While in Poteau, Dora operated a successful drapery business for over 30 years, out of her home.
As a dedicated follower of Christ, Dora enjoyed sharing her talent as a piano and organist for many churches through her mid-80’s. She was also a proud American-patriot and served at a Poteau voting precinct for more than 30 years. Dora also enjoyed being active in the community delivering Meals on Wheels all over Poteau for many years.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, of 68 years, her sister Betty Reel Jones and brother Earl David Goldsmith.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Rick Summerlin of Tulsa, OK; sons and daughter in-laws, Jim and Cathy Pickel of Springfield, MO, Jon and Carol Pickel of Poteau, OK, and David and JoAnn Pickel of Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Sherry Theobald, Matt Summerlin, Steven Pickel, Leslie Jett, Michael Pickel, Jennifer Bailey, Julie Hayes, Mark Pickel, Morgan Pickel, Shelby Pickel, Carson Pickel, 15 great grandchildren, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Dora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be missed by many.
