Billy Lee Perry




          Graveside services for Billy Lee Perry will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, Oklahoma, at the Richardson family plot in Oakland  Cemetery.
                  Bill was born March 5, 1930, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died in Monroe, Louisiana, Wednesday, January 11, 2017.  He was the son of Milton and Mamie Perry.  He graduated from high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he would return to teach speech and debate after attending Northeastern State at Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  Bill received a doctor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma.  He taught at Northern Colorado University at Greely, Colorado before moving in 1971 to Northeastern State College at Monroe, Louisiana.  He was a professor and director of Educational Media for twenty-eight years.  After retiring from the University, he worked as a consultant for Pearson Publishing Company.  He was active in the Downtown Lions Club, where he served on local and state offices.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
                He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Jeweldeen Richardson Perry and their two sons, Timothy Richardson Perry, wife Jody and Rob Perry, wife Kelli;  five grandchildren, Tommy Perry, wife Angie, Katie Phillips, husband Johnny, Ali Perry, Stevie and Drew Perry;  four great grandchildren, Jo Anna and Jude Perry, Julianna and Eva Phillips.
                Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:45AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to First United Methodist Church of Monroe.  3900 Loop Rd., Monroe, LA 71201.
