Tilda Kathryn Jackson,
Devoted Christian, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & Dearest sweet
forever Best Friend. Tilda was born in Pocola, OK
on September 22, 1919, daughter of the late Gertie & Oscar (Shine)
Pipkins. Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong
resident of Pocola, OK
and a member of Pocola
First Baptist
Church – she became a resident of
Hope’s Creek Retirement & Assisted Living in Van Buren, AR
in November of 2013. Tilda is preceded
in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Billy Pipkins & Lewis Pipkins, both of
Pocola; her loving husband of 32 years, Richard Boyd Jackson of Colorado
Springs, CO.
Tilda had not only been a
wonderful, loving and caring mother, she was also a devoted wife and profound
Christian with an unshakable faith in God and loved reading her Bible. She was a member of the Pocola
First Baptist
Church in Pocola, OK
where she loved being an active member for many years, especially in her Sunday
School class where she enjoyed getting to fellowship with the ladies in her
class and loved them all. Tilda was a
Volunteer for Hospice following the death of her husband and received honors
for her selfless giving back of her time and dedication on behalf of other
Hospice patients and staff members.
Tilda worked outside the
home for many years as a waitress to help provide and help raise her
children. Along with being a wonderful homemaker as all her family and
friends claimed she was through knowing
her, they state, she was an extremely meticulous lady throughout her life, yet,
welcomed any who visited her and made sure no one ever left hungry because she
would insist on cooking and serving her
delicious prepared meals and usually included homemade baked pies or cakes she
always made fresh, - but Tilda’s true talents allowed her to shine as she was
also well known for her outstanding interior decorating and floral arrangement
abilities, her family and friends state that her decorating was what she
enjoyed and found great pleasure in doing for many, many years.
Her family and friends have
many very fond memories of Tilda, and she will surely be sadly missed.
Survivors include her 5
children, sons, Jerry Edward Gregory & wife Lavern of Mulberry, AR, Joe
Douglas Gregory & wife Sadie of Heavener, OK; daughters, Carol Kathryn Ray
& husband Dale Ray of Chrisman, IL, Sherry Ann Timm & husband Mark Timm
of Carson City, NV, Karen Sue Dover & husband Henry Dover of Cherokee, NC;
7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 9 step
grandchildren.
Services will be 10 am
Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Pocola First
Baptist Church,
Pocola, OK
with Rev. Grant Ray officiating, Eulogy given by Janice Davis & Nancy
Hendrix. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,
Ft. Smith, AR.
Pallbearers will be Eric Hendrix, Zack Hendrix, Wayne Beachy, Stan Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Pipkins,
Gerald Pipkins, Steve Hendrix, Mac Pipkins, George A. Davis, Arvin Kurkendall.
