Vernon Ward, 87, of Fort
Smith, AR (formerly of Shady Point, OK) passed
away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Van
Buren, AR. Vernon was
born August 11, 1925 in Tahona,
OK to Marion Benjamin & Mary
(Miller) Ward. He was a veteran of the
US Army serving WWII. He was a teacher
& administrator for close to 40 years, working in Bartlesville, Panama,
Shady Point, and Pocola.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the
home; daughter & son in law, Karen & Rodney Brown of Ft. Smith, AR;
grandson, Dr. Brock Brown of Little Rock, AR; sister, Eveline Monks of Panama,
OK; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Graveside services - 10 am, Monday, August
12, 2013 at Ft. Smith
National Cemetery
in Ft. Smith, AR with Shawn Chancellor and Ken Sisco
officiating. Interment will follow.
The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
