Alice I. Knight
Alice I Knight, 74, of Poteau, Ok passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Fort Smith, AR. Mrs. Knight was born January 16, 1934 in Knot Hole, OK to Jim &
Winnie Pearl (Farris) Brown. She was retired from the City of Poteau Water Department. She was a member of Shepherds Heart Pentecostal Church in Poteau. Bro. Carter Rogers officiated at her and Vernard's wedding 53 years ago in Polk Creek Assembly of God Church which is now Calvary Assembly of God Church in Poteau. Mrs. Knight always wanted her home to be a restful place of peace for any and all who would enter. Her heart of hospitality was evident during her hospital stay as well as in her home for many years.
Survivors include her husband Vernard of the home; 2 daughters, Donna Billy of Poteau, OK, Cindy Pate of Norman, OK; 6 grandchildren, Andrew & Crystle Billy of Poteau, OK, Allison Billy of Poteau, OK, Amy & Josh Burum of Germany, Anthony Billy of Poteau, OK, Aaron Pate of Mobile, Al, Alan Pate of Norman,OK; great grandchildren, Alina Billy of Midland, TX & Emery Burum of Germany; sister, Bonnie Payne & husband, Tom of Poteau, OK; sons in law, Gerald Billy of Poteau, OK & Kevin Pate of Norman, OK; sister in law, Viola Brown of Cameron, OK; other relatives & loved ones; a host of beloved friends and her 'adopted' children, family, and friends who were fortunate to share her love and acceptance.
Services: 2 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Calvary Assembly of God Church, Poteau, OK with the Rev. Clyde Hess & Rev. Joe Atkinson officiating. Interment in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. Pallbearers: Rick Goodin, Nick Hess, Larry Crossland, Mark Crossland, Josh Bryant, & Dave Yeager. Honorary pallbearers, Andrew, Anthony, Aaron, Alan & Josh. Family visitation; Tuesday Evening 6-8 pm.

Alice was a joy. I always enjoyed seeing her arround and about downtown Poteau.
