Myra Lou Burgess, 87, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, January 9, 2009, in Ft. Smith, AR. Mrs. Burgess was born May 22, 1921, in Coaldale, AR to Henry & Millie Fortner. She was a member of the Baptist Church & attended Trinity Baptist Church in Poteau. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Theodore Burgess on December 22, 1997.
Survivors include her daughters, Onetia Flynn of Iola, KS & Sue Free of Poteau, OK; son, Jerry Burgess of Grand Prairie, TX; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Margie Adams & Bobbie Burgess; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services held 10 am, Monday, January 12, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church, Poteau, OK with the Rev Leroy Billy & Randy Burgess officiating. Interment following in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. Pallbearers: Donald Allison, Randy Burgess, Bob Free, Hoot Jackson, Harold Gilbert, & Mike King.
