Funeral Service for Newton Ray Evans, 97 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Becky Lynn Mewmaw Granddaughter, Pastor Roosevelt Roy, Katie Rusk, officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Ray was born on December 29, 1924 in Bokoshe Oklahoma to Cora (Staton) Evans and Newton Robert Evans and passed away on September 26, 2022 in the home. He was Preceded in Death by Cherished wife, Sarah Evans; Mother, Cora Evans; Father, Newton Ray Evans; Brothers, Jasper Cecil, Leo, and Floyd; Sister, Edna Paddock; and Nephews, Cecil Evans, Johnnie Floyd Evans, Robert Ray Evans, and Teddy Wayne Evans.
Survivors include: Beloved Sister, Mildred Evans Moore of Muskogee, OK; Cherished Granddaughter Becky Lynn Mewmaw (Brian Harris); Great Grandson Jordan General Lee; Great Granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Mewmaw; Great Great Grandchildren Kai Owen and Kota Sage Yoder, all of Kansas City, MO; Nieces Dr. Salisa Williams (Jim Turner) of Oregon, Arita (Sonny) Slate of New Mexico, Diana (David) Clark of New Mexico, Joyce Aleta Dyer of Missouri, Gayle Stroup Wright of New Mexico, Andrea (Curtis) Devers of New Mexico; Nephews Tom (Linda) Evans of New Mexico, Leo Jr. (Sharon) Evans of New Mexico, Douglas (Heather) Evans of Arizona; Numerous Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews, Great Grand Nieces and Great Grand Nephews; A Multitude of Beloved Friends and Neighbors.
