Billy Gibson

 

Billy Gibson (“Little Bill”) a resident of Wister, Oklahoma died January 25, 2021. He was born on Christmas Day, 1960 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Iva (Adams) Gibson and Julian Riley Gibson. He was raised by Rose and Delmar Hicks (his paternal Aunt and Uncle).

He was preceded in death by these family members and also Larry Gibson, a brother and Jane (Gibson) Hiddle, a sister and a dear friend Cassandra Smith.

He is survived by one brother Frank and wife Ava Gibson of Sibley, Missouri and a Foster Brother, Larry Don Griffin of Wister.

Sisters, Mary Hubbard and husband Kenny Hubbard of Roland, Oklahoma, Hazel Hefley (preceded in death by her husband Calvin Hefley), and Dorothye (Gibson) Farrar and husband Steven of Ketchum, Oklahoma

He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by a multitude of dear friends who will forever cherish memories of good times and laughter. Billy never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting and anything to do with “old timey” things. He grew up at the Wister sale barn and that was his self-declared home his entire life.  

A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, January 30 at 10 am  at Ellis Chapel in Wister, Oklahoma. (masks are welcomed and we will socially distance for any concerned). Interment will be at a later date at the Ellis Chapel cemetery, also in Wister. Flowers may be brought or sent directly to the Chapel on Friday evening or Saturday Morning. Donations in Lieu of flowers may be forwarded to Barbara McCollom at 405 US Hwy 271, Wister, 74966 to support the Ellis Chapel Cemetery Fund. There will be a time of sharing during the service so bring your favorite “Bill” story.
