Winona Faye Bohannon, 86, of Purcell, OK
(formerly of Howe) passed away Thursday,
October 18, 2018 in OKC. Winona was born
June 18, 1932 in Wister, OK to Travis & Addie (Lucas) McCarver. She had a Masters Degree from Southeastern
State University.
Winona spent her life teaching and
was "Mama Bo" to hundreds of
students at Howe High School. She loved
sharing her knowledge with those around her, whether it was a tasty recipe, a
sewing tip, or a life lesson. She was an excellent cook and a wonderful
seamstress who never met a stranger anywhere she went. She loved sharing her faith through her
example of kindness and encouragement.
She enjoyed watching sports of any kind but especially OSU Cowboys and
OU Sooner football, OKC Thunder basketball, and following the Howe Lions
basketball teams. Her greatest love was
being "Nonnie" to Kristen and Zac who will miss her dearly but will
cherish their memories of baking and cooking meals with her. Winona loved her family, her ladies at
Westbrook Gardens, and people everywhere and will be missed by many but we
celebrate knowing she is whole again; probably talking about her children,
grandchildren or Annabelle to those who were waiting for her. We celebrate a life full of love and
happiness we shared with her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband
Minter Bohannon; brothers, Bryan & Robert McCarver & nephews, Keith
& Daniel McCarver.
Survivors include her Son: Mark Bohannon
and wife Kathy of Manassas, VA, Daughter:
Anita Clingan and husband Eric of Noble, OK, Grandchildren: Kristen Mussett and husband Zach; Grandson, Zac
Clingan; Sister-Virgie Stanton and husband Jimmy -Lawton, OK; Sister in law
Carolyn McCarver-Poteau, OK, Nieces: Cheryl Means and husband Harold of Wister,

and her beloved companion, Annabelle.
Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday,
