Beverly
Wray “Ellen” Thompson, 75, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, January 06, 2015 in Fort Smith, AR. Ellen was born October 17, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC
to Leigh & Ruby (Harrold) Newell.
She was a healthcare provider but her most cherished occupation was that
of being a mother and homemaker. She was
preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Thompson and daughter, Lisa
Thompson. Ellen was a member of the
First Assembly of God Church in Poteau.
Survivors
include her son, Steven Thompson and wife Vickie of Poteau, OK; grandchildren,
Bradley & Brittney Thompson, Dustin & Amber Thompson all of Poteau; 4 Great
Grandchildren, Mackenzie, Skyler, Kaydence and Bentley Thompson; best friend,
Iva Harp of Poteau; sisters, Denise Leland of San Juan, CA, Kathy Gayle of
Winston-Salem, NC; her church family; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services
will be 1 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church, Poteau, OK
with Rev. Keith Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakland
Cemetery, Poteau. Pallbearers will be Brad & Dustin
Thompson, Jeff Callaway, Glendon &
Gene Williams and Gary Newby.
The
family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm to visit with
relatives and friends.

I am so sorry to read about the passing of my precious niece, Ellen Thompson. My condolences to her two sisters, Denice Leland of California, and Katrina Gayle of Winston-Salem, NC, and all of her family.
