Wanda M. Austin, 80, of Poteau, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 in Poteau. She was born in Poteau on March 12, 1929 to Guy T. & Ida (Porter) Brown. Mrs. Austin was a member of the First Christian Church in Poteau. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent time taking care of Brian. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Austin and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Brian Keith Austin of Poteau, OK; 5 sisters, Juanita Peters of Poteau, OK, Anna Creamer of Sapulpa, OK, Ida Reed of Poteau, OK, Mary Powledge of Granbury, TX, & Nancy Montoya of Sapulpa, OK; 2 brothers, James R. Brown of Dallas, TX and Guy L. "Buddy" Brownof Poteau, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Poteau with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK with pallbearers Marc Bovos, Paul Saneman, Ron Hall and Sam Gentry. The family will visit with friends and family on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
