Harold W. Wood, 73, of Alma, AR, formerly of Shady Point, OK , passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Harold was born on May 6, 1936 to Dan & Anna Mary George. He was a school teacher for 30+ years at Alma before his retirement. Harold’s parents precede him in death.
Harold is survived by special friends, Jackie Harris of Panama, OK; Ron Pschier of Fort Smith, AR, & Jerry Oliver of Alma, AR; numerous cousins, other relatives, loved ones, & many beloved friends.
Funeral services for Harold were held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 26, 2009 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, OK with the Reverend Phil McGehee officiating. Interment followed the services in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK with arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, OK. Pallbearers were Mark Center, James Jones, & Eugene Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Harris, Ron Pschier, & Jerry Oliver.

Harold Wood had a lasting impact on hundreds of children in the Alma, AR schools for more than 40 years.
Harold Wood taught 5th grade & lead a Boy Scout troop for over 30 yrs.
Always positive,always helping anyone in need.
His influence will continue to have an impact on generations to come.
I am blessed to have worked with Harold from 1976 to 1987 as Alma middle school principal.
WE thank you for your dedication, gentle but firm style with our 10 yr old children, including with my son in 5th grade. Several of those children also became educators.
