Velma “Louise” Bennett, 87, of Wister, OK passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 in Poteau, OK. Louise was born June 22, 1934 in Fanshawe, OK to James Daniel & Velma Jewel (Newby) Burt. She worked for KiBois Supportive Living for 19 years. She enjoyed her cat, Belle, reading the Bible and going to yard sales. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and thought of them and their well-being above all else. She was of the Assembly of God Faith and a member of God’s Family. Louise was preceded in death by her spouse, Samuel Bennett; and her parents.
Survivors include her son, James Martindale of Wister, OK; daughter, Dana Drury of Heavener, OK; stepson, Sammy Joe Bennett; stepdaughter, Sherry Bennett Martin; grandchildren, Jessica Bourlon of Shawnee, OK, Cody Drury of Kalispell, MT, Sara Keen of Wister, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jack Covert officiating. Burial will follow at Fanshawe Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Covert, Orville Hess, Schadowah Covert, James Martindale, Caleb Bourlon, Ed Drury. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Holson, Jake Keen, Sammy Joe Bennett, and Cody Drury.
