James A. Black

 

James Arland Black , 72, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  James was born September 12, 1948 in Poteau, OK to George Ray & Martha Evelyn (Hinson) Black.  He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventists Church.  His greatest joy in this life was spending time with his grandkids.  He loved working with cattle, seeing wildlife, the country, fishing, hunting and camping. He was a hard worker and always said he couldn’t just sit at home, that he needed to work.  He never met a stranger and would help anyone.  He loved people.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and aunts, Ratha Skinner and Eloise Jackson.

 

Survivors include his sons & daughters in law, Daniel & Vicky Black, David & Cassy Black, James Black; sisters, Sharon Method, Linda Manning, Mary Hinson & Derk, Dana Gail Langston, Raydean Green & Perry; brothers, Joe Skinner & Elaine, Roger Black & Betty, Bob Hinson, Gene Black & Marcella; grandchildren, Dilon Burns, Elijah, Hannah, Malachi, Michael, Jazmin, Joe, Jacob, Jewley, Junior, Braxton, David Jr., and Hailey Black; great grandson, Michael Black; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 

Services will be 10 am, Friday, March 5, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Tony Roberts & Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dilon Burns, Elijah and Malachi Black, Christopher and Joey Skinner.  Honorary pallbearers will be James & David Black.

The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
