William Robert Rupe, 79, of
Poteau, passed away on February 5, 2021 peacefully at home with his family by
his side. Bill was born on
December 3, 1941. He spent his childhood in Quinton Oklahoma where he enjoyed
being outdoors, riding horses, and hunting. After graduating from high school he
enlisted in the Army. He served our country in the Vietnam War as part of the
101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles. When he returned home he took up
bull riding and spent time touring the country competing. Bill married his wife Anna on December 30,
1974 and they enjoyed 46 years together. They have 3 children, Jamie Heckman,
Jason Rupe, and Julie Benarrous. They also have 7 grandchildren, Kyler, Alycen,
Jaykeb, Ian, Carys, Renner, and Jude. He worked as a Lineman and
owned/operated Rupe’s Shoe, Boot, and Saddle in Poteau. Bill is preceded in death by his mother,
Mildred Chrestman. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and doting
grandfather that will be missed deeply.
Memorial service will be 1
pm, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau.
