Gaylord B Wann

Gaylord B. Wann Gaylord B. Wann, 81, of Pocola, OK passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Pocola. Gaylord was born on February 7, 1928 in Lucas, Arkansas to Ben & Luella (Farmer) Wann. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Pocola. He was a Jr. High School Principal and Boys Coach for 34 years until his retirement. Gaylord is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Reathel Andrews & Rotha Balentine; a brother, Coolidge Wann; and special nephew, Wayne Andrews. Gaylord is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Wayne Wann of the home; 2 daughters & sons in law, Sandra & Neal Wilson of Pocola, OK & Gaylene & Bob Wurlzbacher of Bentonville, AR; granddaughter & her husband, Mindy & Shea Ellis of Greenwood, AR; 2 grandsons & their wives, Tim & Stefanie Damato of Pocola, OK & Brandon & Sarah Wilson of Centerton, AR; 2 step granddaughters & their husbands, Jessica & George Crawford & Jennifer & Will Hicks, all of Dallas, Texas; 9 great grandchildren, Madison Lomon, Blaise Lomon, Taren Ellis, Gage Ellis, Chloe Damato, Emma Damato, Ily Crawford, Audrey Crawford, & Darby Hicks; a brother, Farmer J. Wann of Pocola, OK; 2 sisters, Ruth Gatlin of El Centro, CA & Mental Balentine of Wister, OK; numerous other relatives & loved ones; and many beloved friends. Funeral services for Gaylord were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church of Pocola, OK with the Reverend Paul Walker & the Reverend Richard Maness officiating. Interment followed the services in Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe, OK with arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola, OK. Pallbearers were Neal Wilson, Bob Wurtzbacher, Tim Damato, Brandon Wilson, Shea Ellis, & Ron Wann. Special honorary pallbearers were members of his ball teams who have kept in close contact throughout the years, Dale Haskins, Ken Gordon, Ron Hall, Roger Wilcox, George Reaves, & Jess Womack. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Strack, Paul Statham, JB James, Keith Patton, Logan Howard, Brian Patton, Henry Trimble, Joe Yates, & Doug Statham.

Gaylord went to the same school as I. He was a great basketball player, very well liked by all school mates. Had a terrific personality.
I had not seen him in years but I am sure he will be missed by all who knew him and my prayers go out to his family.
