Evelyn "Susie" Hawkins


Evelyn Kay “Susie” Hawkins, 75, of Panama, OK went to meet the Lord on  Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Evelyn was the daughter of Pete & Veta Sinisgalli of Poteau, OK.  She attended Poteau High School and was in the graduating class of 1963.  After graduation she worked at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center as a lab tech assistant.  In 1965 she enrolled in Licensed Practical Nursing School in Ft. Smith, AR; graduating in 1966. She worked at St. Edwards hospital until 1973.  Evelyn married Curtis Sheldon Hawkins of Sweet Home, OR, an Olan Mills photographer.  Evelyn worked as a proof consultant at Olan Mills studio in Atlanta, GA.  After Curtis’ death in 1974 she moved  back to Oklahoma.  After her daughter graduated she worked in nursing homes in Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Evelyn was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Poteau, OK; also attending Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Spiro, OK.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and brother, Pete Vito Sinisgalli.

 Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Shelly & Roy Scroggins of Panama, OK; grandchildren, Faelynn Elizabeth & Brandon Ramsey, Stephanie Nicole & Mykel Bridges, Tyler Dale Lee & Amy Mosby, Ryan Bryson Livingston; great grandchildren, Hannah & Allie Oswald, Jaycee & Wyatt Bridges, Brentley & Connor Ramsey; her nephew, Mark Vito Sinisgalli of Ohio; niece, Bianca Vita Lewis. She was loved by all family and friends.

 The family will be at the funeral home on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 4-6 pm to visit with relatives & friends.  Rosary will begin at 6 pm in the Chapel.  Funeral services will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Poteau with Father Sean O’Brien officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Ramsey, Roy Scroggins, Ryan Livingston,Tyler Mosby, and Eddie Wemmerus.

Thoughts and prayers are with Susie's family. I will miss our phone conversations and all the wonderful updates. She was a gentle soul and I have no doubt about where she is now. I will always smile when I think about her.
