Eloine Veatrice Dial Crews





Eloine Veatrice Dial Crews, 104, of Edmond, OK ( formerly of Poteau, OK) passed away February 26, 2015, in Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, OK.  Eloine was born January 19, 1911 in Holland, Effingham, Illinois to Eli Valentine and Mary Jane Netta (Sweazy) Dial the only girl among four boys.  She came to Heavener, OK with her family in 1913.  Her father was a conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad.  Eloine graduated from Heavener High School, being active in Rainbow Girls and later in Eastern Star.   In 1929 she married a local young man, Roland Alford Crews of Poteau.   In  1952 the family moved to Poteau where Eloine became active in the community with Garden Club, Eastern Star, Country Club and was an active member in the First Methodist Church.  Eloine worked for the New York Store, Town & Country in Poteau and the Boston Store in Ft. Smith.  She loved to Tole paint, sew and garden.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of seventy years Roland Crews and her four brothers, Rosco, Leland, Denzel and James Dial all of Heavener.



Eloine is survived by her only child and son-in-law Merry Roline and Jim Askew of Edmond, OK; her grandson Steve and wife Michelle Askew of McKinney, TX; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; special nephew Jim Dial of San Francisco, CA and his three children, Jim, Bob, and Carrie;  many other nieces and nephews, friends and a special friend, Peggy Talley of Poteau.


Services are scheduled for 2 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau
