Charles Wallace Durant, 76,
of Poteau, OK
passed away, Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Tulsa,
OK. Charles was born April 21, 1938 in Gilmore, OK
to Walter & Cleo (Virgil) Durant. He
was a veteran of the US Army. Charles
was formerly the transportation superviser for Poteau Public Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents;
wife, Mary Jo (10/12/2010); brothers, Carl, R.C. Johnny & Walter; sisters,
Jean Bass & Pearl Bost.
He is survived by his
children, Joseph Durant of Tulsa, OK, Rita Schroeder of MI, Monica Peter of
Randlemon, NC, Frank Crane of Poteau, OK, Douglas Crane of Tulsa, OK, Charles
R. Durant, Debbie Sarpy, of Poteau, OK, Sherry Ross of Muldrow, OK, Gaibral
Durant of Poteau, , foster children; Shawna Buenivedies of Hugo, OK, &
Dylan Sweeten of Spiro, OK; many grand and great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred
Huddleston of Oklahoma City, Carolyn & Archie Baca of Poteau, OK; brother,
Paul Nichols of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 11 am,
Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK. Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery,
Gilmore, OK. Pallbearers will be Chuck Durant, Michael
Stanley, Mitchell Durant, Douglas Crane Jr., Timothy Stanley, Nathanael Peter.
The family will be at the
funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm to visit with relatives &
friends.

I'm so sorry to read about Charles passing. But the stories being shared in heaven between him, my Mamal Mozelle & other Durants. She loved the Durants & spoke of them often. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
We will miss you, we greatly appreciated the boxes of food you brought us when we first got in our house 18 years ago and we had all those gas leaks. I had to use food money to pay the someone to come and fix my gas leaks, than I started finding a box once a week on the hood of my car, this box would be loaded with commodities, mac and cheese, caned meats and veggies, dried beans, powdered eggs, rice, instant potatoes, cereal etc. We were greatful and wondered who was bringing these treasures, til one morning I seen him leaving a box full of food. After that he would come by and asked us what we needed or wanted in commodities. How precious, Our Angel! God Bless your family, Kathleen
