Frank Gutierrez

Edmund Frank Gutierrez, a World War II Veteran, age 96, formerly of Oklahoma City, OK. passed away peacefully on March 21, 2012 in Crystal, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Mildred Smedley) Gutierrez. Survivors include his daughter Delia (Gutierrez) Anderson, son in law Joseph Anderson of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren Marina, Nilan and Joseph Jr Anderson; several bother in laws and sister in laws; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many beloved friends. Frank started in the produce business in his early teens and continued until he took several years off to serve our country in WWII with the Army-Air Force. He returned from the war in 1945 and continued his produce business which grew to have locations called “Franks Tomato House” in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Houston. He ran the OKC location until 1979 and retired from produce to start a third career as a farmer where he grew peanuts and wheat. Along his journey from a fourteen year old on his own selling produce door to door all the way to owning his own business, Frank also obtained his private pilot license and truckers license and traveled extensively throughout the produce belt. Frank made many friends and influenced countless people in the ways of hard work and following your dreams. Grandpa Frank’s final six years were spent in Minnesota with Delia, Joe and his three grandkids. We all had many fond and tender moments with him and he made us laugh right up to the end. Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Evans Chapel of Memories, Evans-Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, OK.
