Robert Van Dyke Jr.

 


Robert Frederick Van Dyke Jr., also known as Fred or Gator by family and friends passed away on November 8, 2021 at the age of 61 in Wister, Oklahoma. Fred grew up in Manomet, Massachusetts. Fred also lived in Charles County, Maryland, Hamilton, Illinois, Atkins, Arkansas, Heavener, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert F Van Dyke Sr., mother, Edna L. Van Dyke, sister, Roberta F. Alexander, sister, Sharon M. Burch. He is survived by sons Robert (Bobby) F Van Dyke III and wife, Dilynn; Scott J Van Dyke, Charles J Van Dyke, Colton J Van Dyke, one daughter, Brittany A  Heaton;  sisters, Violet E (Betty) Grimes and husband Mike, Theresa M Demmick and husband Mike, Bridgette D Haney and husband Larry, six grandsons and one granddaughter.

Robert grew up in Massachusetts and later moved to Maryland with his family in 1974 where he attended Lackey H.S. Robert (Fred) lived in many states throughout his lifetime before he settled in Oklahoma until his death. Fred was a pipefitter by trade, but worked and mastered many other trades as well.  Fred had many interests including CB and Ham radios along with making fishing lures and weights. He enjoyed working and using computers, especially keeping in contact with friends and family through social media. He enjoyed cooking, baking and barbecuing for his family and friends, but Fred’s true love was the beauty of the beaches and lighthouses located in Massachusetts. Fred was of the Catholic faith. Interment will be private.
