James Lawrence Smedley, 81, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 in Fort Smith, AR. He was born February
11, 1938 in Howe, OK to Martin and Flora (Reed) Smedley. He was preceded
in death by his parents, 3 Sisters Mildred Gutierrez, Wilma Sloan and infant
Laverne; 2 Brothers Hoyt and Joe Smedley.James is survived by his wife Lois (Churchill) Smedley of the home; Son, Brian Smedley; Grandchildren, Tammy Attaway, Sarah Martin, Shannon Smedley; Great Grandchildren, Taylor, Isaac, Isabelle, Isaiah; Sister, JoAnn Wiglesworth; Brother, Coy Smedley; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gregory, Duke Rawls, Scott Martin, Vance Smedley, Josh Barkley, Jimmy Pinkston, Loney Gregory.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 5-7pm.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Evans Memorial Chapel in Poteau, OK. Interment will follow in the Monroe Cemetery.

Uncle James was always so kind and loving to my husband, Wayne Prince, and me. We will miss him so very much. Our hearts go out to Aunt Lois, Brian, and Brian's children, and all the extended family who will miss him as much as we will. Rest in peace, James. You've earned it. We will see you on the other side of the veil.
