Russel Eugene Hunt, 94, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 in Poteau. Russel was born January 13, 1917 in Barkley, KS to William & Bessie (Hauser) Hunt. He was a truck driver. Russel’s grandchildren were very special to him and he loved them all. Grandson, Zachary, enjoyed spending time with his grandpa trying to beat him at card games. Zachary gave him his haircuts when he was no longer able to go to the barber.
Russel is survived by his wife of 31 years, Willie Jean of the home; daughters, Jean Lane & Laurel Cockrell of Stockton, MO; Sons, Chuck Hunt and his wife, Pam of Moore, OK, Condy Wells and his wife, Barbara of Shady Point, OK, Reggie Wells & his wife, Dale Ann of Shady Point, OK; grandchildren, Terry Johnson and wife Jane of Tulsa, OK, Zachary Wells of Shady Point, OK, Cindy Flowers & husband, Kevin of Ft. Worth, TX, Stephanie Robinson of Hartford, AR, Kelsey Wells of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer Armistead and her husband Chris of Fairmont, WV, Michael Gray of Poteau, OK, Tommy Gray of Oklahoma City, OK and Ashley Hunt of Eufaula, OK; 10 Great Grandchildren; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Shady Point, OK with Rev. Larry Matthiesen and Rev. Jim Roberts officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 2301 E. Indian Hills Rd, Norman, OK at 1 pm Friday.
The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with friends and relatives.
