Earl Leon Weatherford

A celebration of life for Earl Leon Weatherford, age 78, of Poteau, Oklahoma who died Thursday, August 6, 2009 in Poteau, was held Monday, August 10, 2009 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, OK. Earl was born March 4, 1931 in Howe, Oklahoma. Earl was an only child, reared by his grandparents, William & Delta McCormick of Howe, Oklahoma. Earl was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Vera McCormick, his father, Wayne Weatherford, and his first wife, Josephine Weatherford. Earl was a member of Howe First Baptist Church and was retired from American Airlines in Tulsa, OK. He loved attending LeFlore Baptist Men’s Brotherhood, loved to tell others about the Lord. Earl also loved listening to good gospel music and country music. He loved roses, having lots of rosebushes at his home in Poteau. Survivors are his loving wife, Iris Weatherford of the home; a daughter, Earlene LaBass of Tulsa, OK; 2 granddaughters, Karri LaBass-Polson of Stillwater, OK & Kimberly LaBass-Carter of Tulsa, OK; 1 great granddaughter, Kennedy Polson of Stillwater, OK; a stepdaughter, Joni Humphries of Broken Arrow, OK; a stepson, Dr. John Stewart II of Tulsa, OK, a brother in law, Kenneth Austin of Marlow, OK; a stepbrother, Gene Goodin of Jefferson, OR; 3 step grandchildren, a host of cousins, other relatives, loved ones, & friends. Earl loved music and video music. The Celebration of Life honored Earl’s life with the music and video music he loved.
