Betty June Morris, 83, of
Pocola, OK passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR. Betty was born November 18,1933 in Council
Bluffs, IA to Herbert William & Gertrude Marie (McIntosh) Sales.
Survivors include her
husband, Harold of the home; daughters, Ginger Morris of LaPine, OR, Sherry Pranger of Tulsa, OK,
Laurie Lee of Sallisaw, OK, Gaylene Morris of Ft. Smith, AR; sons, Harold
Morris Jr. of Rio Linda, CA, William "Bill" Morris of Pocola, OK,
Roger Morris of Ft. Smith, AR; 34 grand, great grand and great great
grandchildren; 3 sisters, Elma Clatterbuck of Salinas, CA, Janet Chase &
Lola Alley of Council Bluffs, IA, Beatrice Waldron of Coin, IA; 2 brothers,
Robert Sales of Omaha, NE, Rex Sales of Council Bluffs, IA; numerous nieces,
nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 10 am , Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Evans Memorial Chapel Pocola, OK with Rev.
Carl Cheshire officiating. Interment
will follow at Noon in Ft. Smith National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Morris, Kyle Morris,
Allan Lee, William Morris Jr., Jason Morris, Nick Mabry, Austin Tidwell.
The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Monday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Mom raised us in church. While I miss her so much, I'm thankful knowing that she's in that Heavenly home that she taught us about and that I will see her again some day.
When I think of Betty Morris I smile. I remember her and Harold taking a bunch of teenage kids to the lake skiing and having lots of fun. Roger, Rocky and I, along with Sherry, Laurie, Gaylene, and Bill's small kids were more than a handful. That alone will be a jewel in her crown. Harold would make endless trips around the lake giving everyone a turn to ski, or at least try. I can hear Betty laughing as we fell off the skis and watched her clapping for us when we got up on the water. She would fix all of us lunch on a picnic table, while keeping all of us in line and managing to have a good time through it all.
I remember one day when Roger and I were in her kitchen talking, and Roger said something that didn't set just right with her. She reminded Roger that he wasn't too big to whip. Roger said, "Oh yea, You couldn't catch me." She made a lunge at him and out the door Roger ran with his mom in hot pursuit. Roger was young and fast, but for a while I thought she was going to catch him. We all got a big laugh out of the whole ordeal. She did corner him later and swatted him with her hand.
Betty and Harold were always there rooting us on at all the ballgames. She was quite a character and I cherish all the memories I have of her. And yes, Gaylene she showed us the way and one day we will meet again if we follow her example.
