Edward Van Riley, 84, of
Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, October
26, 2017 in Poteau. Ed was born August 14, 1933 in Wilburton, OK
to Van & Lilly Mae (Lucas) Riley. Ed dropped out of school at the age of 17 to
join the National Guard. He returned to
finish school and receive a BA in elementary education from Northeastern State
University. Ed taught for 16 years. He also went to seminary/OBU and was Baptist pastor for 50 years before he
retired. He was preceded in death by his
wife of 58 years, Earlene (Jan 24, 2013); son, Steven Riley and sister Mary
Alice Smallwood.
Survivors include his sons
& daughters in law, Mark & Shaylene Riley of Poteau, Paul & Terri
Riley of Bokoshe, OK, Phillip Riley of Cameron, OK; grandchildren,
Tony & Misty Riley, Dustin Riley, Nathan Riley, Mathew Riley, Angie
Lambert, Summer Ringlen, Brandon Forest; great grandchildren, Kainan Riley, Kaydi Riley,
Whitney Lambert, Rebecca Lambert, Brayden Armstrong, Paxton Turnipseed, Ryan
Turnipseed, Tristin Riley; great great grandchild, Amyiah Brown; other
relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 2 pm,
Monday, October 30, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Revs.
Garry Haskins & Brant Toney officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. Pallbearers will be Eddy Reed, Rick Hamilton, Ryan Turnipseed,
Brayden Armstrong, Tony Riley, Dustin Riley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kainan Riley, Nathan Riley, Kevin Gee.
