Robert Carl Adams, 95, of
Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Poteau. Robert was born September 8, 1921 in Bokoshe,
OK to Allen & Delia Adams. His was a
big wonderful family. They all worked
together and worked hard as was needed in those times. When Robert was 17 he joined the CCC or
Civilian Conservation Corps. One of his first
adventures away from home was in Cody, WY.
On Nov. 27, 1942 he joined the Navy and the Seabees. He was so proud of being a Seabee. He learned new things, went to new places and
felt honored he contributed to his country.
If he talked or was asked questions about the Navy and Seabees he would
get the biggest smile on his face; he was proud. In 1945 he married Maxine Watson and they
had 57 wonderful years together. They
had one daughter, Patricia "Pat" who they loved with all their
hearts. Years later they had a granddaughter,
Aimee, who completely stole their hearts and filled their souls. Bob
decided to retire and move to Keota, OK where they found a new house and a new
church they really cared for and enjoyed.
Maxine passed in November 2003 and
we still miss her. Years later Bob met
Jean at church and they later married.
They had a wonderful time together.
We will all miss Robert. He was a
