Brian was born November 19, 1960, in St. Louis,
Missouri to Gene L. Gum and Patsy Ann (Hale) Gum.
He spent his entire career in retail and built many
life-long relationships in his field. His latest position was as District Manager for Family
Dollar. He also spent many years with Howard Brothers and Fred’s Discount
Stores.
Brian enjoyed life to the fullest. He lived most of his life in Louisiana and
loved that state more than any other. He
had a passion for fishing and would have fished every day, if possible. His other favorite past time was watching
sports, all sports. His all-time
favorite was his beloved New Orleans Saints football.
He is survived by his son, Patrick John Gum, of
Covington, Georgia and his daughter, Carly Rae Gum of Gray, Georgia. Other survivors include his brothers Craig L.
Gum (Luann) of Orlando, Florida and Kevin T. Gum of Stillwater, Oklahoma and
sisters Debbie L. Sellman (Ennis) of Shelbyville, Texas and Tracey A. Robinson
(Mike) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as well as seven nieces and nephews and a host
of special friends.
He is
preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and wife, Jeannie Gum.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
