Lena Delores Harrison



Lena Delores Harrison, age 86, was born on November 4, 1929, and passed away on June 4, 2016 in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. John L. Harrison.  She served alongside her husband John in the pastorate of 16 churches across Oklahoma and Texas, a model of servant-hood and grace to their parishioners.  She was a member of the Wister Church of the Nazarene and will be remembered for her kindness, beauty, hospitality, and spirit of fun.

Born in Warner, Oklahoma, Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of Thomas S. McDaniel and Lucy E. Underwood McDaniel Mankin of Wister, Oklahoma.  The eldest of eight children, and graduate of Wister High School, she enjoyed sharing memories of her friends, playing forward in the all-state varsity basketball team, and playing the trombone in the marching band.  She enjoyed growing plants and flowers and worked for many years as a florist, gifted in creating beautiful arrangements.

Mrs. Harrison loved her family and is survived by her children Patricia Harrison Winters and husband Joseph of Jacksonville, Florida,  James Harrison and wife Carol of Nacogdoches, Texas,  Samuel Harrison and wife Carmen of Houston, Texas,  Jeanne Harrison McGrath and husband Robert of Nacogdoches, Texas,  Thomas Harrison and wife Mary Ann of Baytown, Texas and Mary Harrison Sims and husband Keith of DeSoto, Texas.  She has 37 grandchildren and great grand children.

The funeral service will be held on June 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Wister Church of the Nazarene, 401 E. Highland Ave, Wister, Rev. Jerry Townley officiating, with the interment at the Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, Oklahoma.  The visitation will be held from 7:00-8:00pm on June 10th at the Evans-Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.  There will also be a viewing on June 11 at 12:15pm at the church prior to the service.  Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wister Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs.Harrison was one of the nicest lady you could ever meet..She was a pleasent person to meet..All way brought a joy to who ever she meet..She will be deaply messed by her family and all the love ones and friends and everyone she has meet..RIP ' sweet lady till we meet again..
